I have a 72 Satellite with a 526 stroker running Pro Comp 90 degree spark plug angle and power steering along with a mini starter. I currently am using a set of Jegs Ceramic headers which, the best I can tell, are a Hooker 5903 look-a-like. Headers fit pretty good with the only clearancing needed was around the steering box and a few taps to increase spark plug boot clearance. One problem is that the ceramic coating has all but turned gray either due to poor coating or was not broke in properly with engine running, although instructions never mentioned any type of engine heat cycling. More to the point, does anyone have first hand knowledge concerning fitment for shorty headers? In addition, if I was to change to a different set of long tube headers, what would you recommend? Once again I would be asking those with first hand knowledge.

Great site and truly appreciate members advice

My headers were supplied from TTI coated. They are on a 340 but they are their shortys and they work and fit very well. Initially they stayed a shiny silver and the car was driven for around 150 miles so it was fully cured.
They do advise you to not run a cam in with new coating. I put my old manifolds on for cam break in.
It turned gray about one and a half inches from the cylinder heads when it got pushed on the chassis dyno.
I don't lose any sleep over it, does not look as good but I am not going to buy another set they still work fine.
They all dull a bit but the best coating I have had on headers is HPC.

i had bought new headers ad had sent them out to be ceramic coated , if they work just have them recoated from a local shop
