Anybody else have steering link hitting oil pan?

How long till you get that rig on the road? I'm curious how hard it will be to steer.

I'm probably out about a month. I've been waiting two weeks for torsion shaft seals to ship from Warren Michigan to Toledo....a 1.5 hour drive....but they have been in the mail for two complete weeks now. I just found out my headers interfere with the passenger side torsion bar, so I'll see if some motor shifting will help that....and then maybe some denting. Then wire, bleed brakes and get a driveshaft. I tinker every night a couple hours on it so a lot of the stuff will get done while waiting....but the wife has honey do projects lining up for when the weather turns consistently good.

Any update , I to have the same issue steering to turned all the way to right hits oil pan. I have a Borgeson fast ratio steering box and PST stock idler arm. I’m wondering if they make a longer one that not in conjunction with fast ratio pitman / idler arm package. I will call PST tomorrow just wanted to see if anyone knows?

Please let me know what you learn. Yours is hitting in exactly the same spot as mine.

Yes as I look at it and measured it the Idler arm is shorter by 3/4 of inch then pitman center to center of bolts.

Hmmm. My pitman and idler are both the same center to center.

Pitman arm 6 1/4 idler arm 5 7/16 so something Wong, all new parts I’ll have to dig into this what are your measurements?

Mine are both 5 1/4". The idler came from PST and is their stock replacement. What kind of car do you have?

Also have a 68 charger bought restored just check it and it to has pitman arm at 6 1/2 and idler at 5 1/2 ?

You are measuring straight across like dsd1967 did in post 54 of this thread and not at an angle?

Wow , So if u measure both like that then yes both are 5 1/4 . I’ll check with my engine builder he builds these all the time and I’m sure he has an answer.

Then you have the correct factory length setup.

So after thinking about it all and having called Tim banning at For Hemis only. I’m using tin man motor mounts and that repositioned my motor 1/4 back both right turn and left turn the center link hits. The reason that was not shown earlier is I forgot I did that and reason I did that is because the K member is a 71 not a 69, with the 71 the power steering box position is lower than a 69. I removed the shims today and in fact both sids do hit. I also called Firm Feel and if u are not running headers or maybe certain headers not sure what ones u can get the fast ratio idler arm / pitman arm and that will solve your issue. I will have to make bump stops or something not sure if anyone has any other ideas

So, I just found this post and said, "AHA!" I'm not the only one. I'm calling MIlodon in the morning
and ask them what they are going to do for me because they stuck out the passenger side of the
pan????? I love the pan, and it fits everywhere else nice. I will try "shifting" my engine like you all
suggested. Thank you all!

My pan ended up going back to them so they could repair the factory leak. They were going to send me a new pan, but I refused and said I want this one back. Told them to take some measurements as to where I had it dented because apparently I am not the only one having that issue.....

I talked to Tom. Been there for thirty years. NEVER heard of any problems with this pan! I sent him a video and
some pic's. I told him he should do a Google search. Let's see what happens???

They never do!!
You could walk into ford and ask about your pinto exploding and it will be the first they've heard about it.
