Just bought a bunch of engines and tranny's and so far I've dug out this 440 block. 1969 440 Vin 9a273998. Hoping the car is still around. Thanks

That is the right year and plant, and about the right range to POSSIBLY be a six pack a12 block (3-29 build date). There are guys on this forum in the a12 section that might have the vin numbers, or at least the range. If you can find the right a12 guy....... What is the casting date on the block?

It's very close to known 6bbl VINs but with that VIN it could also be out of a GTX. It's the same block so what it came out of is irrelevant.

Agreed! I just think the a12 guys would have more info and be more agressively searching for the matching block.

Bummer. Too late to be an a12 , i think.The a12s were 3/29 and 4/26 scheduled production dates.

Now, wait a minute. Now im real confused. My 4/26 a12 vin is 20,000 later than your block. No matter what it was in , how does a casting date way later than mine have a twenty thousand earlier vin?

There are no known A12 273XXX VIN. The nearest A12 VIN is 274008, which is pretty close. Can you post the stamp pad atop the engine with the EAD?
