Just when everything's peachy...

These 2 allen bolts are the limiters for stretch right?
And they are sheared off....wow.
Yeah there's not much of connection to the plate. It looks like any weld they did, was just a little on the outside and then mostly ground off to get a flat surface again. Then they just peened around it to kind of pinch the bolt end. You could probably break them with a few whacks from a hammer...

I don't think they are sheared off, I think they pulled the threads out of the plate. I'm curious if they are fine or coarse thread.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the concept . I would just put in a couple more fine thread bolts.
But...i'm using elephant ears, what do I know?
 
Either way, I won't be using those again. The car is back to driving normally without the unpleasant knocks and noises--woohoo! In reality, I'm not sure how much vibration dampening you actually get once you've made a solid connection between the two plates. Better off just using a solid mount with this much torque, I'd say. I could have possibly drilled through the bracket and run a countersunk bolt through, with the flush head on the mounting pad side, but I didn't have the proper hardware. Another option was to drill both the bracket and the K-frame's mount pad, and run a regular bolt and nut through. In that case I like the "Jerry Hall" method of leaving a self-locking nut a thread or two loose so it's not solid at idle or easy throttle... but there's no space to drill the pad with the engine in. I'll address it further when the engine comes out; for now it's back to clunk-free launches! Thanks guys
