Been semi-retired 7 yrs. now, Good thing about that is don't have to worry about being laid off.Best of everything to you.
Yeap, one the things here is that the owner sof the gas stations doesn't trust the customers to pump their own gasY'all still have attendants? Heck, I remember way back in the 80's getting in a fuss with NJ gas station attendants
over who was going to do the pumping on my Super Bee in those days.
I never let 'em touch it.
I forgot about the Corvair with gas fill in drivers side front fender. Had a '63, '65, & 66. Gluton for punishment.
Wow - what a ahh gem. Maybe it was a disposable vehicle; you know after it runs out of gas you set it out for the garbage pick up and buy another with a full tank. lolBack around 1981, by brother owned a Fiat 850 coupe. Rear engine pos that went 0-60 if you were lucky. 6 gallon gas tank. The filler was underneath the engine hood in the rear on the driver's side. Went to a station once, which had full serve but I went to self serve, and the attendant came by and thanked me for not using full serve because he never would have found it.

Same way cars are now, ya know....Of course, just to be different the Jaguar XJ6 not only didn't hide the filler, they had TWO of them. One for each tank, boldly placed right on top of the quarter panels like a Charger. But no lid to lose, these hinged caps stayed with the car.

Same idea, but that's a '56. Here is the '55...
Thanks, I hadn't realized. I've seen so many pictures of 55's with the hidden feature I just thought it was stock. The 56 chevy location above is stock. The 55 is a custom mod and is not stock. 55s had a door on the quarter panel.
