Have trouble getting axles into sure grip. Can I loosen the bolts on the sure grip while it is still in the rear end and if so, do I then have to reset lash? Thanks

Axles should slide into place keeping them straight and maybe turn slightly to align the splines, be gentle. Depending on what work was done/wheel bearings there may be some setting to do. There's a thrust pin in there stock setup and make sure that hasn't come dislodged...

Tried a long bar to turn axle as suggested to align, would not budge. I'm planning to remove gears and look to see if it is misaligned. If so, disassemble, and then reassemble with axles in to align.

That's to bad it didn't work. Did you push in on the axle you were turning? If you did that and didn't go in guess it needs to come apart. Did a Dana 60 powerlock put both axles in place when tightening. The one that I had a problem was part of a deal and didn't check splines. Thanks for this follow up. Like to know what you find.
