Couldn't stand it...
Had to go check, like right now on this nasty cold, rainy night.
Nope. My (4) HF stands aren't in those numbers, thankfully.

i have been underneath both kinds all at the same time, I'm still alive to tell about it. I'm not scared lol

I do not have any but Thank you for posting that info.

I never did trust that ratchet type of jack stand. The ones I use have the u-shaped pin.

I use the 5 ton stands. But I also leave the jack underneath as well. Ive looked at some of the stand castings and welds. There pretty sketchy.

Never, ever, ever, ever only use one form of vehicle support. ALWAYS have a backup. Just think to yourself,if my support fails, then what ? Even if you stuff a spare wheel/ tire or 2. Some form of backup.

Yet another way the Chinese are trying to kill us!

I'm wondering if there are other store brands that are made by the same outfit. I have a set of Auto Craft 6 ton that are the same style but the top looks different.

Hey "DAD" thanks for the heads up on this. I own 4 of the 3 ton 61196. Spent many hours laying under my Chrg with nothing more than those jacks. Sometimes you just have someone looking after you and you just don't know it. Thanks again for the info.

I just saw and also posted this I guess a few posts will be easier seen.

I always use hardwood blocks I have as a back-up and always leave the jack there in case my wife or sons or whoever finds me half crushed needs to jack the car off me in a hurry! I always keep the mobile phone within reach too.

Actually, to share another safety tip, I read an article in Hot Rod magazine about a guy who was wearing his watch working under the car. Battery was still connected, car was in gear. The watch strap was metal and touched the starter, the engine turned over and the car moved off the stands. He lived, but was pretty crushed up.

Oh….so you have the goood HF stands...

I'm going to check mine....I obviously didn't buy them from Harbour Freight (we don't have them) but they are exactly the same as the red ones on the left...so who else around the world did the manufacturer supply to? Must have had them 15 years or more.

They're all Chinese crap, but at least these have served me well so far.
Heck, it's been a major change in the way I tinker on cars to even use jack stands at all.
Some of these other FBBO members can tell you stories about that. :)

I use 50 year old AUSCO 5 ton stands.
The stands I inherited from my dad finally gave way a few years ago - of course, they were 40 year old versions
of the crap stand they sold back then, too. :)
