I am going to buy a reasonably priced classic, either a 67 Coronet (R/T if I get lucky) or a 67 Charger. I love them both and can't decide. I've been reading a lot of posts here & thought I'd ask for some feedback from Mopar guys on which one to choose. I would go big block, I would like to install a 4 spd. I like wider tires which I know to be an issue with the Coronet. thoughts?

I say Coronet. The roofline and quarters of the 66-67 Chargers don't appeal to me. The quarters on the Coronet aren't that much different but the taillights and roof look a lot better...In MY opinion.

I tend to agree on some level but the Charger is so unique. The oddity in the fastback sucks me in even though the roofline on the Coronet is prettier. From a mechanical stand point they're pretty much the same right? Besides the dash and headlights of the Charger.

Why not a blend of both?
Charger interior and gauge cluster, grille and taillights in a Coronet ?

A Charger. The hide-away headlights are cool. Plus, the '66 Chargers had very nice interiors and dashboards; I've read that the '67's interior wasn't quite as nice. Plus, it's a fastback, but you'll want a decklid spoiler for high speed highway driving.
I think you get a lot of car for your money with a 1st generation Charger.
1st generation Chargers, the ones that started it all and they still make Chargers today. You can't go wrong with a Charger.
I own a Charger and am very satisfied with it. I like my Coronet too.

You can put all the tire you need for a street car on the Coronet. If you want more, blend in the Charger wheel wells on the Coronet. I have seen a Coronet with Charger interior which is great, the dash not so much IMO. Charger grill and headlights are an easy swap, rear not so easy, but it's been done also. All this is just my opinion.

Welcome to FBBO from SoCal - I’m going to go with the Coronet. Just like the lines better. They also beef up nicer - my opinion.

Charger. then you don't have to waste your money and time into converting a coronet into a Charger. They built it right the first time.

I would go Coronet, personal opinion, the design just looks more balanced to me. If you ever want to carry 4 passengers don't go the Charger either.

I'm a big first generation Charger fan...own 3 to back up my claim. You'll own a car most other collectors have ignored, which is also attractive to me. Go Charger

Coronet. 67 was probably the best built year. Production numbers were lower, and the overall build quality seems to be way better. I've had 4 over the years and the one I'm working on right now is a convertible.

I wouldn't rule out a 66 Coronet 500 they are pretty sharp as well.
Welcome from Upstate NY.

My all time fav would be a 66 500 convertible poly 318, a very close 2nd would be a 67 Charger 440 4speed.

The advantage of the Charger is the fold down rear seat where I could sleep after the wife kicks me out of the house when she finds out I dropped $35K on it.

Welcome from Missouri!! I love all mopars, but, the coronet would be my choise.

Charger. They look odd in pictures but in person they are one of the best looking cars you've ever seen.

In my opinion, I love both but if tires would be an issue with the Coronet I say Charger all the way then. Also because I am a Charger guy too. :) There was an orange Coronet for sale I saw at a car show last year, let me look for some pictures

On the tire size you can always move your springs inward. Pretty easy to do.
