Carb recommendations 318 and engine electrics a mess

I think I’ll be better off buying a new carb. Any that are good for a stock 318 and any to DEFINITELY stay away from?

and anyone have advice or link to information about ignition wiring that’s dumbed down enough for a child to understand?

Assuming you have a 66/67 Coronet or charger you just need to download the wiring schematics for your car. Looks like you have a quadrabog on that engine. Keep in mind its a spread bore carb. You can get an edelbrock but they are square bore and you would need an adapter plate. Q-Jets are very reliable carbs you just need to go through it.Hell Millions of chevys ran them.. Looks like an LA 318 in your car and not the 318 Poly..

Here is the ignition setup from switch to coil. This includes the ballast resistor, starter relay, coil and alternator. There is also a Neutral safety switch on the transmission and one of the wires from it goes to the starter relay. I colorized this to make it as simple as possible. Right click on the pictures and save as....
