What did you do to your Mopar today?

Are those Crane rockers?
I broke one of those to find out unfortunately they no longer make them.
Yeah they're Crane 1.6's. Hopefully the 125lb spring rate I'm gonna run wont be too harsh. Did yours fail running hard or just failed? Did the failure happen on the rocker shaft bearing or something else?

I was entering the freeway and was accelerating when it busted, 1.5's on a 383.

Lifter fell back in its hole which gave me just enough oil pressure to limp off the road. It was bad but thank God it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Crane "scrapped all that stuff" so I was told so I ended up replacing the entire valve train with a Hughes setup.

New pushrods a bit shorter and the motor runs better. Not trying to jinx you but there yah go...

Went for a hell of a ride, what a beautiful day!

Do you remember when you purchased those rockers? What spring rate are you running? I'm wondering if it's a design/material flaw or just bad batch. The reason I say this is I bought those rockers back in 2006... Anyways thanks brother I'll have to dig into this a little further.

Planning on taking mine out for a quick spin after getting it back from the paint shop.

Have been in withdrawal.

today was NYS inspection. Now I have a list of stuff to do , adjust clutch, find exhaust leak, and fix throttle cable.

Build sheet is from 2004 and this is exactly what I was running when I pulled the motor from storage and dropped it in my car 2-3 years ago.

Dual springs but unfortunately the part# no longer seems to be valid so I can't confirm exactly, I'm guessing 550+ lbs./in., something suited for the setup.
This was put together by a reputable speed shop at the time who are still in business.

Changed the cam right away (less aggressive grind for the street).
Still have the same lifters (no damage) and springs, valve train to Hughes.

New push rods at roughly .25" shorter than what I had and the motor runs and idles noticeably better, 383 un-stroked with 906 heads fully ported.

I've read from a few places on the Crane gold race rockers breaking and the fact that Crane no longer makes Chrysler rockers makes me wonder...

That was the big question, the car ran fine for that 2-3 time span until it went bad...

I wish you nothing but luck to you AND your car.

Unlatched the trunk lid. Not as fun as it sounds. Almost got my big *** stuck in the rear seat brace trying to wiggle in far enough to reach the latch release with a very long flat tip. That's what I get for getting wrapped up in fabricating and forgetting the basic stuff like a release for damn thing after I get it situated correctly. lol.

Fabricated a small flat tip device to fit into the latch release slot that has a six sided body that a tiny matching closed end wrench slides over and the other end fits into a hole drilled into the latch mounting plate. This sandwiches the lever in-between. Works fine.
Slide the open end of the thin wrench to the side and the latch releases. Now I need to buy a tiny spring that is 2-3 inches long and less than 1/4" in diameter to keep tension on the lever until the trunk latch bar closes the latch and the internal spring pulls the lever back to the start position. I installed a small bolt with an aluminum roller to the side for the pull cable to slide over. Will mock it up back on the car tomorrow to figure out the location of the grommeted hole below for the cable to poke through behind the bumper. A simple pinned lever should suffice as a pull lever. Made the device out of a double ended Torx driver Allen adapter. The thin wrench slides over the Allen end snugly and the other end was ground down to fit into the release slot. The mounting plate hole slides over the Allen end remaining length trapping the thing in-between it and the latch body face.

After a week of pressure deck and parts of the house back to starter in my Satellite. Had to put my Bear barrier on my deck stairs. Last year a bears came to top of steps and stopped at a small gate to look around. Wife would have been cut off from door to house if he came over gate. She chased him away with an air horn. Finished pulling it and checking if mini starter terminals clear the block. The mini was a little less than 1/8" from seating pulled it out to check nose diameter it was Ok. Think plate was a little warped. Tomorrow is another day.

I think I found out why the coronet has been running weird lately. I imagine some of that fine **** is in the carb. Probably time to replace the original fuel lines and maybe the tank too. Definitely time to clean the carb out.
