Four of the Worst "Special Edition" Cars?

A buddy of mine had one of those and said it was a great vehicle to take to the beach. Maybe he said something different than beach.....
They had a built in tent.

Yep, the Aztec. When Bob Lutz left Chrysler to work for GM, he hated it, called that Pontiac design 'sales proof'. There wasn't any reason for the goofy looks, as proved by the Buick Rendezvous that used the same platform with a less hideous appearance.

The Aztek had a lot of crossover/sport utility features that were a first for the time but are commonly seen today. Sure it was ugly, but it was revolutionary in a way. And, just like the 4th generation Trans Am of the period, you either loved it or hated it, but it kicked *** when and where it needed to...

Yup, the Aztek was butt ugly lol. Doesn't matter how revolutionary a vehicle is if it doesn't appeal to the eyes and that thing made me wonder why anyone would but it and judging by it's sales numbers, not many did. Won't buy a good looking car if it's a pile either. The Vega looked decent to me as a get around car that wasn't expensive and good on gas until I saw just how cheap it was under it's skin......and even the skin was rusting off of the cars just sitting in a parking lot. The 4th gen Trans Ams were somewhat cool but by then, GM had pretty much told me their products were to much of a crap shoot to trust buying one....

IIRC, the 78 LRE was the fastest (but not by much) production vehicle made in the states.

I don't even remember the truck top speed. The Corvette was 123 mph. with the base engine and 132 mph. with the L82. Car & Driver (Cart & Drover) magazine said that "Not only will it run faster now – the L82 version with four-speed is certainly the fastest American production car, while the base L48 automatic is no slouch" - but it's possible that the article was written before the LRE was tested.
