Hey guys, hoping someone can help me out. After changing the wiring in my charger I can't seem to get my console lights to work properly.

My shifter indicator light is always on.
My console lights do not work.
Orange wire has 12 v
Pink wire has 0 (pink is piggy backed on orange in the 3 amp bank of the fusebox). Why would it have no power when orange does?
Yellow wire from door switch seems to have ground reversed. When door is closed I get ground, when opened i get nothing.
Black has ground.

Any ideas on why this is all happening? This is driving me nuts. LOL. Thanks for your help.

Something doesn't sound right there. The 3A is the output of the voltage limiter for the fuel and temp gauges.

Color codes SHOULD BE:

Orange, dimmer
Pink, battery power
Black, constant chassis ground
Yellow, door ground

Orange and black I guess for the shifter light ( 71 and lates shifter light is chassis grounded straight on socket though )

Pink and yellow for the courtesy lights

The 3 amp fuse is the pink bank on the far right. It's labell d 3 amp so that's why I called it that. I'll take a pic later today.

Why is my shift indicator always on? Can't figure out how it shuts off? I get the door switch cuts ground for courtesy lights but not shift indicator.

The shift indicator should be on the orange wire circuit - power with the parking lights.

power with parking lights but coming out from the dimmer wheel of course.

neither 69 or 70 diagrams from mymopars ( Charger or Coronet ) actually show the console section like 68s do, BUT they of course incorporate the back up lamp switch wiring... ( and ppl still trust blindly those diagrams ).

however, searching found this, which confirms what I'm telling. Of course details are also inlcuing the back up lamps feeds for 68s

and here a diagram for the 68... which as mentioned of course includes the back up switch. I guess the rest should remain the same

Thanks guys, I think I've figured out a couple of things that may be wrong with mine. I'll revisit tonight and let you know. Thanks again for your help!

Ok got the courtesy lights to work by moving the pink wire on the fuse box. They had it piggy backed in the orange wire.
My problem is still that the orange wire has constant power with ground making my light stay on. I just put in a new dimmer switch. Any idea where this power would be coming from? Where should the orange wire go to coming from the console/terminal connection in the kick panel back. From kick panel up??

Thanks again for all your help guys. Finally figured it out. the orange and the pink wire are joined together and run all the way to the fuse box directly. Orange wire was connected to the 20 am constant and pink was in orange bank. Surprised that it did not go to the switch or dinner first?

Thanks for your help.

I guessed it was some positive wire being mixed out, while ground not ( hence the reason why just one of them was going off ), but thats something you could check just by yourself
