The turtle launched into her windshield. It looks more like the turtle was not properly belted in, when she slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of her that slowed abruptly.

I have seen them go flying when they are in the road and a driver clips the edge of their shell with a tire - almost like tiddlywinks. I watched a redneck in a p/u in front of me actually aim for one and send it flying about 20' off the road. Not sure how this one got enough air to hit the windshield though.

If possible I'll stop and get them off the road but they can be flipped up by cars trying not to hit one but catching the edge of the shell as they try to dodge it. If it was flipped up, it could have bounced off another vehicle and gone even higher up. Just not enough info in that story to tell what happened. Hate using the word hate but when I see someone go out of their way to run over an animal, it really puts me on the hate wagon. Threatened one guy that I was riding with that did that and told him if he ever did that again with me in the car I would beat him to a bloody pulp.
I think the turtle and the car aren't So Happy Together.

I was surprised years ago to find out regular old box turtles are endangered. Found one w my kids. Oldest daughter was looking up what to feed it and it said their numbers are declining.

Man I watched a dude swerve(off the road on to side walk) to hit a cat once I proceeded to rip his *** out of his car at the light the cops were already on the way the cops got him for animal abuse... Guess it's a felony took his *** in right then .
I'm not a cat fan but it's a living thing! Turned out it was someone's pet, it got out earlier that day !
