Chrysler Historical Services Up and Running

I actually heard that they did this with a bunch of replacement (NOS) parts back in the 80’s when they were in financial trouble and the parts were deemed to be worthless.
Yes - a friend of mine worked for a Chrysler dealership back then and he was tasked with taking stuff to the local landfill including NOS Hemi pistons among other things.

The 68 and newer records were lost in a fire years ago.
This is the story I've read multiple times, but there's some debate as to whether it's really true. It is true that '67 and earlier are the only ones they have on microfilm. now.

I heard Iacocca sent all the old dies and molds off to the scraper too, general cost saving day

#73 was San Francisco, might be close?

I like to have the dealership number book that they use when they once gave you that info.

They used to. They don't have the staff anymore. You're lucky to get a copy of the build card now.

I understand region 72 was Portland Oregon? but I would like to find out who the dealers name # 61563

You could try emailing Danielle and ask her. It's worth a try. She's been very helpful in the past. If you do, ask her if there's a website or any record of these dealership numbers with their info. They have one that they used when they used to supply this info.

I found one on line but it's for the newer Chrysler dealerships and maybe ones that are still in business not ones that are no longer in business. I looked up your number on there without any luck. It's a PDF so when you click on it, it will download the info. Like 40 pages.

I think Fastback Jon has a lot of the dealer codes, but not all of them. When he decoded my Satellite's punch card, he didn't have the dealer name, but he thinks it's because my car may have been a corporate car before it was sold.

I might have to email him sometime and see if he would make me a set of "tribute" cards for the '62. I'm not worried about the decoding, that's all been done.

Thanks

He's a great guy to work with, and his tribute cards are top notch.
