not putting enough voltage out

Plus I need the amperage put out on that alternator due to all the accessories running

Here's a vid showing installing a external regulator on a 90s Chrysler. It MAY work, you'll need more research

That looks like a Denso alternator, and not a single wire? I think the plug with the green and white wires goto the alternator field. With the older regulator like you have, one wire should go to the voltage regulator FLD output terminal, and the other wire grounded.

mech reg needs also a good ground to work even still doesn't feed that field, just the regulated positive.
Yep, that was the first thing I told him . He's got a Durango alt, I don't know if that will work with old style regulator

OK guys I tried all the input and you guys told me it came down to the to field wires which I didn’t know they were field wires on the alternator one goes to the regulator and one goes to ground soon as I grounded it they gave me 15 V I really appreciate your vice help

as mentioned by somebody later, its the same than old squarebacks alt which to make them work as a single field alt, will need one of the brushes grounded

if using an electronic regulator you wouldn't need to ground the brush, both brushes would be wired from ign switch and regulator. On dual field alts matched with electronic regulator, the constant source is the positive signal straight from ign switch while the ground is sourced ( regulated ) from regulator

With your old regulator? If so, good to know

Glad you got it working. My '71 Charger has a 136 Amp Denso Alternator regulated with the stock '71 style regulator.

That is not a one wire alternator. That black plug next to the power wire is the two field wires and they go to the pcm which, as previously mentioned is where the voltage regulator exists in a Durango. You can wire up a standard external Mopar voltage regulator and it will work just fine.
