Disposable razors suck

even just shaking them out and running the blade side over a towel helps.

It doesn’t matter what type you get if you don’t dry it off every time you use it the blades will “rust“. I dry my blades off every time I shave and I can get 5-10 shaves out of each razor. Try it

Agreed. I heard about that years ago and gave it a try. It makes a big difference in the longevity.

I also have stubble like barbed wire.....but I still manage to get about a month out of a quality razer....disposables are a waste of money unless you have soft hair...they pull from the off. For the last 20 years...probably more.... Ive used Mach 3 (not the turbo version....rubbish) as a few of you do. Because my handle is very old and dull I bought a packet of 20 blades which came with a free new handle....it must have had about half the weight of metal in it and felt really cheap and nasty...used it for a few days...then went back to the old one!! Takes a bit longer to shave at the moment as I have to cut round my lockdown Tony Stark beard (Infinity War version)!....i like it and might keep it even after I start back it work Monday (hooray...been off since 24 March!!).....but i only did it for a laugh for my 10 year old son....i dont dye it like Robert....so its a lot greyer than Mr Starks version!
I was given a real nice quality cut-throat razer a while back...tried it a couple of times....and i know it takes practise.....but having left the sink and the towel looking like scenery from the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" I gave up on that!

I am Retired Military so I am used to shaving daily. I probably could have bought a Hemi Cuda with what I spent on Razors. Was going through a box of my dads old stuff found his old double edge safety razor and a box of blades. tried it holy cow works as good as anything else I have ever used and blades are 10 for $2.00 around here. Wish I tried that 30 years ago!

Doesn't anyone use an electric razor? I've manual shaved once in my life and hated the time and work it took. Except for that one time I've used electric shavers and love it. About a minute and I'm done. Mind you, not every electric shaver is the same. I only like the 3-head shavers. I'm not a fan of the one 'foil' type shaver.

In 1963 when I started this damn chore, I couldn't (at the time) get a close shave with a 2 head Norelco so razor it was. Maybe today electrics are OK?

I tried the ones with the flexible foil, they glide right over my face without cutting because the hairs won’t go through the holes in the foil. The only way they work for me is if I use them on very short stubble, but my beard grows so fast I’d have to shave at least three times a day to keep it short enough. Five o’clock shadow? I get it earlier then that!
The ones with the three round heads break quickly on me. What happens is this: their blades, if you look at them really close, have like a little spring, or smaller blade in front of the cutter. It’s purpose is to slightly pull the hair up before cutting, to give a closer shave. My beard is so coarse that it wrecks those little spring blades, and they then act like a orbital sander on my skin, leaving swirly scratches on my face. Painfully.

I never understood multi blade razors. They are ultra expensive. If the razor has three blades make three passes with a single blade. Same result.

The best I've ever buy blades last at least two months shaving dayli full beard now.

I had a couple Norelco's back in the day when Vic said "close as a blade or your money back" The thing was, after a couple of years, have to replace the head cause it dulls. Then it was hard to find the head, so I went back to the blade, Gillette.

I use an antique blade sharpener. You can easily shave a thousand times on the same blade and it's always sharp! I can't remember the last time I even bought blades. It has been at least 20 years. No wonder they took this thing off the market.
