Edelbrock 7144 Pro-Flo XT EFI Intake, will it fit?

I’m fuel injecting a 440 and looking for intake options....not many for 8 injectors at the ports. I’m considering this one, and was wondering if anyone had experience with it, primarily, will it fit under a stock hood? My car is a 1969 Plymouth Satellite with the RR/GTX hood.

It’s around 9.7” tall from the very bottom edge to the top, which sounds tall, but it doesn’t need a carb or air cleaner above it. I’m not sure how tall a stock intake, plus carb, plus air cleaners is, but it could be that tall.

I have that intake on my '69 Coronet 440 engine stroked to 505".
I bought it for the same reason, it will fit under the stock hood.
Back when I got it, I got the entire EFI kit, but the old kit was narrow band O2 (no self learning) and the computer only controlled basic EFI.
I swapped out the computer and wiring for a FAST 2.0 EFI controller.

The forward mounted throttle body comes out above the thermostst, so you need a 90-degree thermostat housing (I used the CVR brand), and an extra long throttle cable with GM TPI type end. I used the Lokar universal cable (I think the kit is 30+ inches long), and cut the cable to length.
 
FWIW

I run that manifold on my 71 RR and it clears no problem. I think the inner fenders are close so hear is a measurement. 3 1/8 hi from the top of the inner fender and that is 25 1/2 from the firewall.
Like 451 said the TB is right above the tstat and my intake elbow came out to close to my fan and shroud so I had to go to electric fans.

Here is an old Photo.
Battery has been re-located to trunk, and wiring cleaned up.
Also this is the Champion 4-core radiator and Ford Contour fan setup.
That was changed to Griffin radiator and Be-Cool (Spal) 13" cooling fans.

Back when I bought the kit, they had 4 versions. The differences was the injector size, and plane or mat black finish. I have the version with the larger injectors, and painted the plane intake hemi orange.
The MAP sensor the kit came with is just a GM 1-Bar, so if you do boost, it would need to be changed. I don't recall the fuel rail pressure, I think maybe 3-Bar (43-psi?)
If getting the intake, I would get the fuel rails too unless you can make your own. I think just about everything else can be bought off the shelf?
I think the throttle body is a 90mm LS style.

What controller are you using? I see you have a Holley Throttle body.

I had a hard time finding the correct size adaptor from the 4" inlet tube to the throttle body. I got if off E-Bay many years ago.

I'm using Holley Terminator, that I've rewired to seq efi, and that is the Holley TB because I like the tapered bore around the throttle blade and it does have 4" inlet flange.

What are you inlet air temps?

I have not had mine running very long but mine was running 145+ on a 80 degree day. That's what let me to run my outside the engine bay.
 
I know my IAT was likely pretty high. I never monitored it, but depending on the tune, I could hear some ping at lower RPMs.
I have made a bunch of changes, but haven't got the car back on the road, so don't know what I will see. Moved battery to trunk to move air filter.

Around 130 degrees I could feel the drop and see the fuel trimming. I have not been on the road with my filter moved but its already better just idling in the shop.

what fuel system? intank or inline
 
That is a slick setup.
I ordered the 3/8" sender with return line and fashioned the pump onto the outlet tubing and drilled a pass through for the wires. It's ok but you certainly know when it's lower than 1/3 tank.
Mine is mild as well I'd be surprised if I'm making 500HP.
Are you running sequential or batch?
 
Sequential with the FAST Dual Sync Distributor. I had to grind some clearance into the 440 source stealth head for the distributor to clear the head.
I was considering going Holley Dominator EFI, but the ECU looks to be much larger, so I decided to try the FAST box without traction control.
 
Yes the dominator would be the best but hard to justify the price tag.

The Victor is a good option, normal air cleaner and the a/c might fit around the fuel rail. 2 less problems to deal with but I liked the equal length runner setup and figured it was about the same money either way.
 
My issue with the victor is that it’s rpm band was more suited to racing (maybe started at 3500 rpm). This is for a street car for me, and the option I first listed is better for the street cruising.
 
Are any of you willing to share your tune data, specifically ve and spark tables? Knowing your engine specs and combos would be helpful. I’m looking for a good starting point for mine. I’m doing a home-built engine computer/controller (I’m an engineer and it’s a fun project).
