I have a 68 Hemi bee, automatic transmission so the question is, "Does the transmission neutral safety switch have a single bolt with nut, or does it have a three-prong type? Also, the wiring harness for automatic vs 4 speed is different?

It "should" have a 3-prong switch on trans. IMO. I never say never anymore. Too many abnormalities anymore. 1-wire 'should' be earlier.

A 1968 uses the single wire NSS that has a nut to hold it onto the switch.
Yes, the wiring is a bit different between 4-speed and auto trans cars because the manual has the dash mounted reverse light.

Gotta disagree,451; my fairly late had the 3-prong. Just like I said, never say never.

April 23 '68 build, numbers matching trans. Had the single pole switch from new.

I seem to remember reading that in mid May production 1968 models switched to the 3 prong nss. Anything prior would be the single prong for automatic, 4 speeds were all 2 prong in 68-70.

June '68 on mine. Stand by previous statement.

Old Bee, yours is the exception... It is a very late car so that likely explains it.... 69 definitely gets the three wire plug, 68 typically got the single wire plug but I cold see later cars getting the three wire design... It is a better design...

Thought it was worth noting here, early 68 cars with the inland shifter did not have the reverse light.

Have to love those mid year changes. Like my old '67 Coronet with the 19-spline 727. Yes I broke a new 24 spline converter trying to make it fit before I knew about the change in the transmission shaft between 1966 and 1967.
