Clutch fan won't fit now

I should have seen this coming. Just got the 440 in today, located and mounted the new rad, and went to install the water pump pulley and clutch fan assembly to measure for a shroud, and not enough room for the clutch fan. I would need about 3/4" more room to make it fit. Can't move the rad or the engine. I really don't want to go electric fans right now. A flex fan for now?

had that issue with my 69 dart transplant with a 383 with shoe's mounts . just put the standard type fan n pulleys om her . that notch in the shroud was for the a/c compressor , it would burn off belts on the a/c setup with a standard type fan .

yep, just use a regular solid mounted fan with a shroud. it will work just fine with the right spacer.
 
Which clutch do you have (pic). There is a short shaft and a longer one.
 
i've been using a hd rv type , never saw a short one . and even when i put that 383 in my d100 i went to that hd rv clutch type . but a still had to build a shroud for it .

I'll measure mine tomorrow, but I would have to say long. Maybe I can swap it for a short. I didn't know there was options for length. I've read that 2500cfm is a good number to shoot for for cooling, but I'm not really sure as I imagine every engine is different. This is my first big block Mopar, and it makes almost 500hp, so I want to make sure I feed it enough air. I have a 26" Champion aluminum rad, so hopefully the fixed fan will do the job. I'll keep a close eye on temps once it's running. Thanks all.
 
Check out the Hayden 2947. Thats a short mopar fan clutch. 62.99 through summit.

I am running a 26" champion 3 row, with a 18" 7 blade fixed steel fan and 1 1/2" spacer and a swap meet shroud that was the correct size except for depth.
I had to scribe a line around it and cut it down to 3" depth so my fan would be half in and out to pull plenty of air.
Everything works fine , no over heat ect.
