Man, I can see there's a LOT of people who are ready to get out, and go RACING!
I'm loving it, even though I didn't bring the GTO or my Roadrunner.
MOPAR representing!
Dragster has a 1968 iron block, Cuda has a .030 over 440.

My good friend just made his fastest run yet, after struggling to work out one problem after another, and "user errors" too..:poke: This car has been together for about 4 months...

Wish that was the same picture here, they just cancelled our Mopar Nats, (July 31>Aug 2nd).....you may get your 540 in before I can report how our 589 went:rolleyes:

MAN!! that's some good stuff there! Sure wish I was there. I really gotta get my car out for some T&T!!!! Diggin it

My buddy with the yellow Vette just beat his best. Went to 9.87 from the previous 10.1 but MPH dropped ½ mph.
He got the best burnout I've seen him do, which he's had some trouble with, like forgetting to turn off the traction control.
Lol. :poke:
He :bananaweed:smoked 'em :fool:up nice :bananadance:on this run though:

I'm looking forward to getting back out here in my Roadrunner with the "traction aids", and lining up against my wife in her GTO...
I've always won, but the GTO cut ½ second off its previous best in February (with me driving). The changes were worked over, internal drilling, mods and jets for all 3 Rochester 2bbl carbs by a real pro in Michigan, :lowdown:Dick Boneske, and I used the line lock for the first time to get some heat in the Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials (I have those on both of our cars) and I power shifted. I gotta play with the timing and advance. That GTO should be in the 12s, and so should my Roadrunner!

LOTS of VERY HAPPY people here tonight!
I can tell we're all sick of (not from) the COVID-19 bullshit....
Weather is nice too for South Mississippi in June!

I've had 2 close friends with V8 Datsun 2X0 Z cars...Always fun and fast. Not bad looking either! One of my buddies that had one back in the late 70s early 80s is the guy w/the yellow Vette.
Here's one from tonight. Sounded "healthy" but I didn't see it run.

To me, the "Chrysler version" of a V8 conversion Z car is a V8 Conquest or Starion. My best friend (also one of the same group as the buds I have here tonight-what can I say, we've been gearheads since we were teenagers) he has a 69 high compression 318 4bbl, headers, cam, 904 Torqueflight in a 85 "flatty" Starion. It's nice!

I was surprised last night when we got back from dining out, I could hear the "Heavy Hitters" up at our Local Speedway, Lancaster, NY, as Friday is Drag Night ! Glad they're back, as I've heard them there for the last 60 yrs...

glad to hear Lancaster is still there. I’ve had many runs down that 8th miler.

In the late 70's my first duty station was Keesler AFB in Biloxi. I was an aircraft mechanic working on WC-130 aircraft. I had a 71 Big block Satelite I used to bracket race in Gulfport. It was my first track. Glad its still going.

Yes, yes it is..I'm used to going there on Wednesday evening/night for Test and Tune and bracket racing. My buddy who (just a week or so ago) broke into the 9s around 9.8 at 139 MPH w/his 2005 LS2 supercharged 'Vette and I went this afternoon and evening, he wanted to make some passes.
Said it was Test and Tune and some kinda "Louisiana vs Mississippi" race...
OMG! Initially I was thrilled that there was a line of traffic to turn onto the road that ends at the track gate, and I don't recall seeing that huge a turnout before, certainly not on a Wednesday night, but
I wrote it off to it being a late Saturday event, so more people are off.
From what I could tell, it seemed like a number of "groups, teams, or acquaintances" had shown up to either make some test passes, but mostly to run ⅛ mile grudge races. Someone "promoting" the event who looked like "Homie HoodRat Big Money G" was calling a "driver's meeting" and he had difficulty with that...
SO you can imagine what it was like when he decided that not only would he have nonstop commentary about everything and nothing simultaneously, but...
 HE was going to "run the track"...
I can only guess he felt entitled to since he rented the track.
After some steadily paced test passes, which was fun to watch, then the grudge racing began and about 175 people decided that the rails and fencing on the burnout pad and all surfaces that follow towards the staging beams were "suggestions"...
:wetting::steering::wtf: :screwy::screwy::popcorn2::popcorn2::popcorn2:
There was lots of :bananaweed: and :fool:and :drinks:
Possibly some :bananadance:and :monkeyleft: too, and I wouldn't have been too surprised if :elmer:wouldn't have followed the :blah::mad::icon_fU::carrot::mob::cursin::hifu::jackoff::soapbox:
I was witnessing, in the rather large crowds, often over wagers laid down.
Oh the drama..:drama:
It got so bad, so crowded and back logged that a number of drivers were "expressing dismay" at the disorganization and crowded starting box.
We left around 9pm. I wouldn't be surprised if the shitshow didn't go on for hours. Lots of "donk" cars. Very menacing and oh so appealing :bs:

Our 1st T&T here@SPR, 4th>5th July, £150 entry per day. We are finally going out with my mates '69RR with the new 589ci motor, he's driving it there, brave man, lets hope we get to drive it home, race prepped track.
