Old timer gets his 426, needs some help from Mopar experts.

These should help, they are 5/16 thick like the old mopar gaskets. https://www.edelbrock.com/carburetor-mounting-gasket-kit-with-studs-12410.html

Welcome from another Ct. member. Crossrams are fussy until engine is warmed up. Ran one for a few years. Insulator could help, think you need a 4 holer?

Yes, if the intake hasn't been cut (which a lot of them are) at carb mount making it an open plenum...not good. He needs a 4 hole carb spacer gasket. Just be careful when adding spacers etc, If the hood bracing isnt cut out, you could run into clearance issues. Hate to see you close hood only to dimple it, or crack a carb body.

Thanks again for all the great ideas. Sure making the youngings smart these days :) I ordered the base heat insulators, I think they might help. Here are a few pics of my baby.

Welcome aboard from Ohio. Better late than never!

Welcome from Michigan. Your car looks great and max wedge to boot.

My 63 Ply Max wedge I bought in 76. Drag race only. Parked in 93 and now started getting it race ready(next season I hope). Well I'm 75 and can't wait. Your ride is sweet. What a sleeper! Good luck.

Welcome from Mid-Michighan. Sweet sweet ride. Looks like a nice pickup in the background too. Congrats on the Wedge.

I went to Amazon and ordered and received the heat insulators. put them in and they definitely helped. Running it every day is also making it happy and sure putting a smile on my face:thumbsup:. I think it's time to take it to a car show!

Car show equals trophy with that ride enjoy.

Welcome from the Poconos!
Lots of good suggestions already.
My experience is, NO ethanol gas! I also use a spacer and mix my fuel with 100 LL AV gas. It fires immediately at any temp any time.

Well, I take the lady ( 4 wheel type) out every day, sometimes more than once. She seems to be running stronger and stronger each day. Starting much better when hot or cold. Mo Fun with Mopar. Here are some materials I received with the car, I bought a display case and stand to place it in front of the car at car shows. I guess the window sticker, build card and maintenance records. I'm not sure what all the numbers mean or how authentic the material is. It does have push-button transmission, 3.55 Sure Grip 8 3/4 rear end, original AM radio(which still works...how about that) Courtesy light group, Remote outside mirror, Padded instrument panel. I don't know what engine it was born with, I'm sure a small 8 or 6? I just thought you folks might enjoy seeing this material
