Hi All,

Does anybody know what the hell this thing is? This came from our 1966 Charger that is being restified at this time, here is the build if anyone want to see it..... https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/threads/so-it-begins-1966-charger-restification.182338/. The piece says F E on it, and car was a California car all its' life so could it be something for emissions in CA? That is what I originally thought since it says F E. Does anyone think this piece is at all important? We are NOT going to reuse it anyway but I am just wondering what the hell it is before we toss it out in the trash.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone.

Some sort of evaporitive (sp) device? For fuel boiling.. Never seen one, sure doesnt look like chrysler made

It connects to the vacuum advance, A valve that changes timing to alter exhaust emissions. Cleaner air package. Seen them on 1969 Cars.

exhaust emissions, not evaporative emissions.

look on it the ports are labeled with stamped in letters.

Looks like the unit to give the highest vacuum manifold or venturi

Well, if the 1/4" hose fits, wear it!!!

Makes sense, by 71 they had the big solenoid distributor to replace it.

From the redneck master mechanic manual for this device:
Yank. Pitch. Done.

I actually MIGHT have somebody interested in this that may want it believe it or not. What does everybody think it is worth? An NOS one is going for $70.00, I think I could probably get at least $30.00-$35.00 out of this one.

Emissions device .

I used to be able to pop out the name quickly. Yup, emissions control. Jeez, I hate getting old! Something about idle/off idle timing, lol.

Cleaner Air Package.... AKA CAP or CAS...View attachment 963351

I got a feeling all of you are correct on the emission thing. I looked at the fender tag and sure enough the car has the clean air package (cap) (E1 on the 2nd or middle row of the tag) Does anybody think this is factory or dealer installed then?
