Hey electrical guys do halogen headlights draw to much amperage for 67 gtx lighting systems and old style dimmer switches

The smart thing to do, even with stock headlights, is to run a large power cable to the front of the car, through relays controlled by the stock switches. Safe low current through the stock switches control the relays which then send the high current to the lights.

I am pleased with the halogens I purchased for my 65 Coronet from Octane Lighting.

I added 2 relays, one for high and another for low beam and purchased new ceramic connectors from:http://www.autolumination.com/wirin...s-plugs/hdl/headlight-foglight-connectors.htm
I also rewired every thing from the relays with 12 gauge wiring. I bought a sealed box from Amazon to house the relays and placed it behind the battery.
The lamps really brighten up the night and show me the damn deer before I hit them.

I also bought from Octane. I bought LEDs. The only complaint I have is the locating tabs don't line up "perfectly" in the buckets. HOWEVER the buckets need to be modified for the LEDS anyway 'cause the large round opening isn't big enough so what the hell ...

Ones I bought are over the counter at parts store wanted seal beams and these came as replacements not sure of their load on all new Evans Wiring complete car , what’s your thoughts

I've been researching different halogen/halo lights for my 65 and have settled on the Octane Lighting green LED Halo but, whatever you decide to go with, you also need, ALL STAR TRUCK PARTS] 4-Headlight Relay Wiring Harness H4 Headlamp Light Bulb Ceramic Socket Plugs Set. It keeps the higher demand from burning up your headlight switch, it draws power directly from the battery and not through the switch.

Hey everyone, I have some dumb questions

1. The positive for the relays, is it always hooked up directly to the battery? I thought I read somewhere that at normal operation, since the power is coming from the alternator, the positive should be connected there.

2. I assume you guys are keeping your ammeters, how will this separate light circuit affect ammeter readings.

Thanks!

1. I took my power from the starter relay stud (where the alternator also connects).
2. I was able to connect a jumper wire at the bulkhead connector (65 has screws for ammeter connections) to bypass the amp gauge (eliminate any load) and added a voltmeter to my console to monitor charging.
