What is everyone working on in the off season.

nothing wrong with wanting to do something you want to do nothing wrong with dreaming
Yes, and thanks @gooser
You are a treasured source of inspiration and motivation, because of your long first hand experience with the Weiand 6bbl intake. Especially when I was downtrodden over the fitment, or more accurately failure to fit under my N96 hood, and for the other generous help you have given me.
I have vacillated over a number of directions I wanted to go with my car, and what I thought I "was sure" I was going to do, for instance like my friend Budnicks mentioned the triangulated 4 link rear suspension, like RMS StreetLynx or Gerst, and I even got encouraging PMs to go that route from those who have, but in a multiple page thread I started I ultimately changed my mind and went the Calvert split mono leaf springs and sliders and Assassin traction bars route, mainly to not be overwhelmed with so many adjustments available that I'd never get it right, and also because the choice I made is less invasive on my real V-code. Now if I make a choice that requires modifications that aren't easily undone, well that is part of the decision making process, but in this case of the rear suspension, I feel like the resulting performance improvement and headroom for "not wishing or wanting" for more than the setup I've chosen vs what a RMS setup could do, even in the future with a 540 that will demand the suspension be up to par to do its job for traction and safety, the choice I made was a better way to go, and I will be able to get the most out of it.
So thanks for your help and guidance regarding the Weiand intake, because there's no way I can shake the drive to get that up and running, and working really well.

Today I’m siting on the front deck and working on an old magazine an elder gentleman from the corner gas station gave me. (He knows I’ve got a Dart under process). I’m also waiting for the UPS truck to show up with some Hemi parts for me.
Check this magazine out.

Last week UPS dropped me some parts also. Those kept me busy for a day or so.

Now isn’t that something. Goodness it’s really a small world. That magazine was 1989.
Thanks!

I'm laughing my *** off Budnicks!
:thumbsup: :lol::drinks::rofl:
I know, I can only imagine how many of y'all, especially the more experienced, hard core guys have got to be :rolleyes::rolleyes:
but many of the redirections that have come about are from advice, comments, criticism, or things I see others do.
The QA1 K-member and front suspension parts, w/the SPC UCAs, is part of this round, and was purchased November 2018. Hard to believe you and I were discussing that that long ago.
As far as the plethora, no-BONANZA of additional parts and systems, well the Dakota Digital gauges were bought 4 years ago, the Wraptor and Vintage Air, power steering and Wilwood stuff was because the Mrs. decided she wanted a bunch of stuff for the GTO, and has already got a bunch, and really needs that 5th gear OD since I swapped in the 3.80s, and cut loose with the credit card (bills she pays) and I truly, TRULY cut some deals that I couldn't even get again today, it was the "perfect storm".
So a lot of the boxes got checked off much faster than expected, so that allows me to move on the last or more obscure or most expensive "list items" like the stroker, the Weiand, and the hood that the Weiand requires.
Look, I've been to several funerals for close friends my age +/- 2 years, and I didn't see any of them taking any of their stuff with them, but I believe that they all had some wishes or dreams left to fulfill.
The things I'm doing with my Roadrunner, those are some of MY fondest wishes and dreams.
Thanks to all of you for your help, advice, and even the :poke::poke:.

This was in the box. And a couple of days spent on the intake for the Dart since arriving. Some pics

Lots of rough surface removed, short side work, port matched, lots of mess involved.
Advertised weight is 35 lbs, after a couple of days work on it, now it weighs 36!

The 1250 might be on the edge of being too big. We'll find out on the dyno.

There's a good chance a cross ram could replace this set up, at some point.

a little motor eye candy, shortblock was professionally assembled, steel main caps installed and balanced, trickflow 270's, .700 lift units.,,car is just about done and ready for road trials,,,all dressed up for the party and the party is cancelled.

whats hard to believe is the paper work that came with the heads recommended felpro 1009 composite gaskets ?? wont they brenell the heads ? and if u ever have to pull a head and reinstall, the head would have to be shaved to get rid of the groove !

That sure is eye candy!!
I was running the 1009 and did have to pull a head to replace a gasket. I didn't notice anything wrong with the head surface. Cometics went back in. I can't recall the compression ratio max for the 1009, I think it's around 12.5?

i was always told that when running composite head gaskets with aluminum heads that the compression ring would leave a groove in the head where it sealed, so when renewing the head u had to surface the unit in order to use it again, thus also raising the compression ratio,,,,haven't got that far with compression ratio yet,,that is planned for the fall,,flat top ross units with large valve reliefs , .010 in the hole..looking for 10.5-11 to run on california pump gas as thats what i using now,,,,,dynamic compression is in the range now.

I used 1009 Head Gaskets on my 750hp 505" and they worked flawlessly. I had the heads off 3 times during while I was running the car (for various reasons, not related to head gasket failure) and they came off fine and left no marks or grooves on the heads.
By the way, to seal the intake manifold to the heads I do NOT use a gasket of any kind. I merely use lightly coated film of white axle grease. Seals perfectly and the intake lifts right off when you need to remove it. Just wipe off the grease and do it again. Many guys probably already do this...and more....I also use REMFLEX header gaskets. In my 50+ years of MOPAR car I have found these to be, hands down, the absolute best header gasket, bar none.

Mike your old Coronet was a beautiful car. Wish you had kept it. Was fun getting those Mopars dialed in too. We both had some crazy porpoising issues going on too - once we got into the 10.0 zone.

Since the local track isn’t opening this year, the 512 got a valve set and this short exhaust system went on so I can cruise a bit. The 572 is still in the works, but a few machining issues have reared their ugly head on my World Aluminum block. All The problems can be corrected, but I will hold of since the only racing I do this year may be some test and tune.

That's a mean looking exhaust system Wooks! Yeah our racing sure has been ruined this year. Will be fun to get back at it next year and that Charger is going to be lethal with that new motor and a couple hundred pounds out of it!

Wookie, a couple questions if i can.... You added an exhaust for cruising, so I assume you race uncorked. I noticed you now have the o2 sensors in the exhaust, did you have them in the headers before? Whose o2 monitoring system?
And second, are the Hoosier quick times any good at all?

The sensors are for the innovate wide band I have. One is running off a gauge. The other is to the data logger. I normally run open headers. I had an extension pipe with a sensor before. Because the pipe was so short, it did not read well. I would use the quick time pro over the quick time. Just something I had laying around to run on the street. They match the skinny’s on the front.

Wookie has done much of what I want to do or have done because "the Wookie did it":D
I just ordered a pair of replacement Bosch O2 sensors and pigtails from Summit for my Innovate Motorsports dual wideband O2 system. Apparently submerging them in water for a couple of hours has a negative impact on their performance :(
Got "E8" error code on both banks.
Fortunately the water didn't make it in the engine, transmission, rear axle assembly, or car, but my headers are the lowest point in my car, and when I moved my Roadrunner out of the garage in Cristobal the headers and sensors had taken a dip.
I think my O2 sensors are in the collectors, similar to Wookie, because the Doug's cutouts connect to the collectors and then the same kind of X pipe.
I'll check Monday.
With the cutouts, I don't know how much choice I have.
Does the location of mine and Wookie's look like a bad placement? They seem to work ok....

a little more engine ****,,,pulling parts out of the boxs i bought a few years ago. trying to hold off till end of year to install. pan and tunnel ram r on the car now. thing is, the dick landy motor in the car now is running scary good. it responded great with the ignition and carb upgrades.

Made some headway on the Hemi today. Being that the Dart doesn’t come home till later September I guess this can be classified as the off season.

The hemi is finally together now and I can share some details.
