People always asking to buy my car.

Ulli is right, :poke:don't get mad about people asking you about your car, maybe is just for conversation, maybe to get more info about this cars, who knows, take it as a complement and always be polite, until I buy the Coronet i have no idea how big this cars was, and people too, compared to a new car this cars are like boats, they are flashy, big, noisy, is almost inevitable that this cars draw attention, not to mention the publicity that this cars have in movies and TV, play along and enjoy the attention.

It's the ones that don't take no for an answer and continue to dig that are the problem. If someone says "nice car, is it for sale" and then just talks about it without the hairyassment of crap like saying "everyone has a price......" and on and on, then it's all good.

This! I have no problem being asked if it's for sale and I take it as a huge compliment but when I politely say no several times, I get put out and in the the case I was talking about kind of nervous.

The other time this morning, I'm going 70 and the guy next to me rolls down his window and asks if it's for sale swerving while looking at the car. Again, flattered but not the right time.

Yeah, I mostly get flattered because along with the question if it is for sale usually come some compliments too. Most have been respectful when given no for the answer. One guy was pushy and got a bit annoying.

I was at a gas station putting gas in my Road Runner; people often make remarks about it when I get gas. I had already had a nice compliment from one person when another guy walks up and asks me what kind of gas mileage it gets. I just blurted out "who cares?". Everyone at the pumps laughed and I felt a bit bad for the guy. I told him the usual gas mileage and that you certainly don't drive the cars because they are good on gas!

I told a guy once the car was insured for $100000 and if I were to sell it I want that or better . If not I'd just light it on fire and get the $100k
Usally that gets rid of people especially if you look insane like I do most of the time !
Or if I Know the dude is loaded I tell him start putting $10000 stacks on hood I'll tell him when to stop!

It's never going to stop. You should probably just get a Prius instead so your mind can rest easy.

If people asking if your car is for sale is the biggest irritation in your life, you've got it pretty good. Enjoy the compliment, smile, and drive on.

I didn't realize that I made the impression that this was the most irritating thing in my life but it's not. I was simply asking how others diffused aggressive people when they were approached about buying their car. Thanks for your input btw.

Your probably right. I'll just sell it to the next guy that low balls me at a gas station.

thank God i had just swallowed my coffee cause that one made me belly laugh.

"Is your car for sale?"
"No, it's not"
"Everything has a price!"
"Are you calling me a whore?"

Those Prius' are pretty darn nifty. Much better than an old rattle trap Plymouth. I just can't afford a Prius or I'd get one.
What gas station do you frequently go to?

Not the roadrunner but one of my others have had 2 different people offer money that was pretty close to what it would have taken. Funny thing I’ve never been asked when out.

Cranky, interesting question. We have not yet had our car out in "public". Don't know if anyone will give a Hoot. Will see, I guess. Best, B.

I've been waiting for someone to hand me a blank check, asking "What do you need for it ?"...

Been awhile since anyone asked to buy my car. Guy in 1988 offered $25k. Even RC ask if my car was for sale, never talked money cause not for sale. Time is getting close though.

For most non enthusiasts I think that’s sort of an ice breaker question. They don’t know much your car is worth, just that your car looks and sounds great, and maybe just maybe they could pull off the deal of the century! I don’t take them very seriously, and just nod saying it’s not for sale. I take it as a compliment.

I was at a gas pump with my 70 Charger RT and minding my own, still had Cali tags on her and a guy comes over and leans on her and offer me 1500 for it back in 2000. I replied are you buying just the wheels because the whole car isn’t for sale. He gave the usual comment how much and everything is available I replied 20g and he walked ... hard to believe folks think they are cheap ..

we could still buy a charger down in nc for under 2 grand back then if you paid attention and cruised the back roads.
there was a whole group of us that bought everything we could find back then.
if only...we had known enough to Keep them instead.

All my neighbors love my car and know that few could just go out and drop cash on a classic old car. When my day comes, I'll be giving it to a special person. One that loves it, but, can't afford it and the circle continues. Does it get any better than that, I think not!!

Many years back. My friend had a 10 second 65 Malibu street car and we were racing it down in Philly... A guy came up and said he would like to buy it and saw it at the track a few times.. My friend gave him a crazy number and the guy said ok sounds good... Guy left, we didn't think nothing of it. About 45 minutes later the guy comes back with dirty bags of cash and says it's all there... When do you want to do the paperwork.. My friend was like well I just threw a number out I don't really want to sell it and didn't think you were serious etc... Guy got a little angry and was bitching about wasting his time and he don't like people who don't honor thier word etc... So he apologized multiple times and the guy left... Later on we found out some of the other cars he had running the streets in Phila. and he was a drug dealer hence the bags of literally dirty money.. So in this case it was best NOT to throw a number out cause you never know and unless your serious you may wished you simply said not for sale..

I blame the Fast and Furious, maybe part of the reason 71 GTXs cause a commotion. Then before that it was The Dukes.

These cars can stir the emotions. Actually had someone accuse me of stealing their car, but it had belonged to my Dad and I learned to drive in it. Questions while getting gas is to be expected.

Mom wanted me to get rid of the old cars in back because she got tired of people knocking on the door. She changed her mind after showing what a rusted hulk sells for. She really freaked when when she watched Barret-Jackson compared to what was offered.
