Hello everyone. Just curious if any 73/74’s
RR/ Satty’s used the rear shifter mounting location on the tail shaft for a 4spd? Not sure if 71/72’s are the same. I have a 74 Satty that I’m in the beginning stages of converting to a 4spd, bucket seat,
NO council. Ordered the tunnel from Brewers, he recommended getting the rear location hump. I know I’ve seen pics of forward mount with buckets no council and the shifter bends back towards the driver. Just wondering if anyone has knowledge or even pics of rear mounted shifter, bucket seat, no council. Thanks for any reply’s
Jason

What I have seen is the forward mount used with bench seat. Rear mount with buckets.

Bucket seats with buddy seat used the front mount. So it’s your call. Use the shifter that please you most.

Go with what makes ya happy. Its your ride! I've been collecting parts to get my '73 back to a manual. It was converted from a 3-sp in the floor with bench seat to an auto with buckets/console at some point in the past. My plan is to get it back to a manual, this time a 4-sp, keep the buckets, but lose the console and go with a buddy seat instead. My buds think I'm making a mistake to dump the console in favor of a buddy seat. But I want that looooong chrome-plated, Hurst-emblazoned, pistol-grip shifter handle! Oh yeah!!

Totally agree. I’m swapping out my
3-on the -tree/ bench seat for buckets and
4- on the- floor with a pistol grip also. I’m working with brewers performance for what parts I need. Honestly I guess what I was asking was if the rear mount was possible w/o a counsel to get carpet and all because all I’ve seen I guess was forward mounted even with buckets and no buddy seat. I was just curious how it looked rear mounted with buckets and NO counsel.

Keep in mind, the front position requires the long shifter handle. Long handle means long throws on the gear changes. Rear position uses the short handle. Short handle has short quick shifts.
