rocker bar shims.... is it possible? I need pro tech advice

I'd post up a PjD dissertation but you obviously do not comprehend

Ouch.

No need for a dissertation, just some wear data and associated details

Where did you get your PjD?

sorry I was grumpy
wear data take a look at lifters from a comp 268 and from a mp 260 or engle after say 50 k miles spreading the load out to a larger area helps

Hemi rockers and geometry is even more fun. When I installed aluminum heads the intake rockers were too close to the valve spring. Had to go with a -.050 retainer,,,,, in return the valve spring pressure went high and had to replace the new springs with a lower spring pressure to keep everything happy. And yes I did clearance the rockers.

Thanks man. No I don't understand most of what u said. But I do appreciate your taking time to write and help me very much. No hard feelings on my end at all. Most of what I've learned is from other people over the years and what I've read to date. Wish I had your skills and knowledge. I'm not rich, but comfortable. Saved for last 20 years to buy and build this car. I would've done done it sooner but life kept happening. Took a year and a half off from work when my sister got cancer and right after that my father got cancer so I went straight from my sister and moved back in with my parents to help out until he died. So much of my savings used up during that time. Now I have congestive heart failure and I'm just outa time. Not complaining at all. Love my family and I just did like anyone else would do. I guess I'm a little ashamed asking strangers to help me figure this out. But like I said, I'm just outa time and was hoping to squeeze just a little more juice outa this motor before I drop it back in. It's good enough. The interior is finished, and the body work is close to ready for paint. But I don't think I'll ever make it to paint. I was just hoping for a clean, fun weekend car, and I think it's that now. So, no regrets... The machinist I went to (Aringdales Machine) is very nice and still takes time to talk to me when I have questions... But he's very busy and I try not to bother him. These Chrysler heads are so very different from the GM's I used to build. And math is NOT my strong suit. Heh, Heh I've changed out the break-in springs and will put it back together. And just hope I did it right. The guides are still fine but only a few hours on em' at this point. It ran fine before I took the heads off. I already sold the 1.6 rockers on craigs list. So, I will run the same 1.5's when I broke in the cam. Thanks man. Appreciate you very much. Would love to see what your working now. Or what your driving. let me know if u got any pics.

BS
I ve had customers who had rocker tips look ok on the seat but come off the tip when reved up with disasterous results, droped valve, rod cuts the cam in half
always check at closed and at max lift
rocker arms are all over the place

Thanks very much. I'm leaving it at 1.5 Small hydraulic cam @.488 roller tips are centered when closed and don't seem to deviate too far inward when opened. but I only checked with a breaker bar on the crank bolt turning slowly and stopping at max open. Dunno what it's like when revved up. But I don't think a cam this small will cause it to slip off when revved up. But then again, I'm not that smart. I'm so stupid when it comes to this issue - that I'm best off leaving it alone. It runs fine. I'll just count my blessings and leave it at that. Thanks for your input though. I appreciate it very much.

if you tuned it over u should b fine
it's those that do not that get in trouble
