Not sure where in Pa. you live, but the I-83 diner in York has a few of those great German recipes on the menu. Add to that truck parking and it's a keeper for me.More come to mind:
German potato salad - yes you use the bacon grease!
Dutchie chocolate cake(2 cups of coffee in recipe) with peanut butter frosting.
Genuine Dutch apple pie
ALL of these recipes, (plus lots more) were passed on to my wife from my mother & great grandmother. The originals are written in German, all scribbled over in translation
Those girls knew how to cook/bake!
I could go on and on, Great Grandpa & Grandpa ran a slaughterhouse......

Close! No, in the small town north of Erie, and right on the NY line, named North East. Which is also bounded by the lake on the West side. Grapes everywhere...By Erie?
I know that area pretty well, I haul into Erie quite often. There's a TA truck stop just outside of North East that I stay at when I am up there. Pretty country, but those lake effect snows are rough.Close! No, in the small town north of Erie, and right on the NY line, named North East. Which is also bounded by the lake on the West side.
