1968 hardtop quarter window, started slipping with a ratcheting noise/feel when turning the crank, but would still move the window. Now it's like it's completely stripped; crank turns with the same ratchety noise but window doesn't move. It will move by hand.
Is the regulator toast, or something else?
I haven't done much with window internals in these other than reach in there and grease stuff..Thanks!

Sounds like the regulator. Factory service manual will be a big help. Reproduction glass channel run weatherstripping that is the wrong dimension ( too thick ) can stress the regulator.

Thanks for the quick reply! Everything in there is original except the cat whiskers, but the window still used to move pretty freely. The FSM diagrams kinda suck if I remember, but I was just thinking about it here at work (lol) so I'll definitely see what the good book says when I get home. Regulator was my first thought too:(

You most definitely have stripped teeth on the regulator....if you pull up on the glass while rolling it upward it will likely grab on the good teeth. If it does this will confirm your problem is worn teeth. Just had to the same issue recently.

It might be a bushing. The door windows have plastic bushings that fit in holes in the glass. I assume the quarter windows also have them.

Is the screw attaching the handle to the regulator tight? Probably the regulator but check the easy stuff first...

Sorry for the late response, for some reason I never got an alert that you'd replied... anyway yeah the crank is good. Plastic rollers seem okay too so the regulator's on the to-do list.

Is this what’s needed for the holes on the quarter window?
