Seems these little crappy suckers can go from $200 to $500. This is nuts. I am wondering how these are constructed. I see a metal core and wonder how one could re-foam and cover this.? Does anyone know how these are constructed and if I can re-wrap one etc? I don’t see much complexity to these and wonder who is paying $500 for something like this?

Mike Ross @ BEA gets $225 for a beautiful reproduction...

Is BE&A still around? I heard he was done. Damn, I just ordered something the other day that I wanted to get from him.
Moparfeind, yes they are pretty expensive in relation to their simplistic design. You could possibly take it to an upholstery shop around you and see if they can recover it, it won't look factory but it will clean it up. I did that on another car about 6 or 7 years ago and it came out alright, I was trying to keep costs down on that car. Just a suggestion.

Other than finding a good used pad, I would suggest purchasing one of the pads that Bob Baker of ABC Moparts is doing. He uses the original cores and will only use the ones that do not show signs of extensive rusting or broken studs. To 98% of the people, they will not be able to detect the slight variation in the reproduction grain pattern.

Some of the other pads that are available are too short and leaves you with a gap at the A-Pillars. The fiberglass or ABS cores will buckle rather soon upon installation.

I know that Bob will be at Carlisle this week and if the Nats go on as planned in August, he will be in our tent at that meet as well, for everyone to check out his work.

Richard, remembering what you told me about dash pads, I checked ABC's site before I made my post, they're showing out of stock on the dash pads.
Moparfeind, maybe try calling over there if that's the direction you want to go.
