Question for owners of General Lee Chargers

personally I've never been a big fan of, the ten's of thousands of DOH GL clones
(I loved the real DOH GL cars in the series)
It's just not my thing, it's not my car so I just don't care much

until they start telling people you can't do this because it offends me

Change the flag to a Union Jack and rename the car, General Leeroy.

I guess the people having trouble with that flag are the same idiots that buy those new overpriced cars. :D

With those fancy hats Bo and Luke are sporting in that photo, I would GENERALLY say maybe that flag fits better then the original!!!

(NOT that there is anything wrong with that)

the first scale model I built as a youngster was the general Lee. my dad bought a 69 charger brand new. I grew up with that show. between the petty charger #43 ,my dad and the DOH, it's in my blood. to me that car symbolizes my child hood. I have never once associated "the flag" as a symbol of, or for, anything other than a badass charger the cops could never catch. we are a dying generation. people/kids/generations who did not grow up with ,or were exposed to , TV as we were growing up, could ever comprehend what that show meant. all these people today see is the ******* flag on the roof and automatically assume it means something that it never did, or ever intended to mean. I'm not one to cave to society, I have always gone against the grain. but if I took a 69 charger DOH clone out in public in this climate , I would almost expect some repercussions for being behind the wheel. of course, it would have to have Trump stickers on the bumper too LOL

Its even worse if you are 25 like me and have to deal with these people. :D

I thought the Dukes of hazzard was a sucky show. The car , I never really cared for. And seeing all the look Alikes out there . Kind of turns me off. Cars shows had the crappiest examples of the GLs ,bondo cracks from one end to the other.

When you watched this "sucky show" were the two guys that drove the car, named Vance and Coy, or Bo and Luke?
One answer I have to agree with, the other answer...…..

That's what you used to do with a crappy Charger in the DOH timeframe. Now there are no crappy Chargers. Only difference I see.

I didnt care for the show. I dont watch much TV , in fact very little.

Slimt, I was just yanking your chain, The org Duke boys left for 3/4 of a year and were replaced with look a likes.
If you thought the show sucked with Bo and Luke, you really dislike it then.

You can see bondo cracks on a car speeding past a crappy 80's camera?

Anyway I loved DOH as a kid. Now? It's completely unwatchable...

I never said the show was actually any good. and honestly the only reason I payed attention to it was
the car
the car
the car getting sideways , spitting dirt, the sound was also pretty badass when you weren't watching but you could hear it squeeling tires on dirt . the silly jumps that could never do enough damage to stop the 01 from getting away. it wasn't the plot, it wasn't the people, well, except for Daisy Duke ppppppppuuuuuurrrrrr
it was all about an orange 69 charger. I never gave two shits about anything else. i will admit , I had a hard time watching reruns on CMT.

A lot of GREAT shows from our childhood, don't hold up very well, when viewed as adults
I loved Masters Of The Universe, as a kid, watching it today with my kids, and I cant help but notice it is not so good.

The Dukes, didn't win any awards, and even though they had like 8 seasons, we all know that if you pop on an episode you will only get a slight variation of one of the 4 recycled reoccurring plot lines.
1) Dukes have to save the family farm
2) Dukes have to clear their name, after being framed for something they didn't do.
3) Dukes have to help a friend
4) a combination of 2 of the above 3

I still enjoy the Dukes, from time to time, I am sure, it has more to do with how much I LOVED the show as a kid, then how good the writing was.
Plus when all else fails, you got at least 8 plus minutes of that sexy Dodge Charger racing around, doing stunts, and 10-20 minutes of Daisy. YEEEEEEHAWWWWW!!!!!!

I'll admit it. I am a shallow letch. I watched it to see Daisy (and the Mopars). In that order.

Boss Hogg and Roscoe were great actors.

You are very correct, as an adult you can see how great those two were!!
They were very talented, and took that job serious, totally didn't pick up on that as a kid.
Those two were VERY important to that show working.
