as you know since a few weeks i startet with my restro.... so far so good, no big suprises.

I am just struggling with my trunk lid .... not sure how to rescue the lid ?

THe lid is in a very good condition , unfortunaley just in one area its completely rusted through... details see attached pics..

What do you think ... what is the easiest way to get this done ? ANd i dont mean to call AMD ;-)

If the outer skin is solid, you could grind the fold over thru and cut the reinforcement up into the unrusted area and remove the rusted section. Then fabricate (or hire someone to) a replacement and weld it in. If the fold over piece of the outer skin is wanted, a strip of metal could be welded to the skin to simulate the appearance or just weld the bottom rear edge of the outer skin to the new piece and metal finish the weld. I hope you understand my description?

That is a very fine description Mike, of what he needs to do! I couldn't have said it better!
I just hope that he can fabricate, or find a person that can do it. It will definitely be a big
and very timely job. Just go slow, and do not be in a hurry!! Good luck with your trunklid!

Make patterns/templates NOW... take measurements from everywhere NOW.. put a straight edge across it and see how much bow is in it to each end NOW. Then cut the crap out and replace it..
