Massey Ferguson F40

Hey Kern did I make a faux pa I have done it many times in my life. Might have to go back to my road and track, and other magazineS from the 60s -70`s to check for stats.

Check out Kubota’s BX series of small, compact diesel tractors. I have the BX2380 which is the smallest I could buy (I think) that would also accept a rear rotary cutter attachment. You need to have enough engine HP, rear PTO speed, and just overall tractor size/weight in order to properly cut with a rotary cutter ( i.e. a Bushhog) because those mowers are big and heavy.

I mow 2 acres using the 60” belly mower each week and then about once a month I mow our 2 acre pasture area with the rotary cutter. The diesel fuel mileage is just awesome on this tractor, much more efficient than a gasoline mower of similar size. And I use the 3 point hitch along with an aftermarket attachment to pull a cart around my property and even pull fence posts out of the ground.

I bought this tractor new and it came with the hydraulic ‘plumbing’ required if I wanted to add a front bucket to it at some point in the future. Also, Kubota credit has a zero percent interest loan available for a lot of their products. It will take me about 6 years to pay this off but I won’t be paying a nickel of interest on those payments..

I'd buy it for 500 if it was here in FL can't get good equipment here it's all new junk

Look for a IH 300 utility , they have about 10 more HP most have power steering , good hydraulics.
Good little tractors.

Getting off subject but didn't Massey invent the 3 point?

Harry Fergusen invented 3pt in the 1920s. The name massey came from massey Harris, which eventually came from the merger of fergusen and massey harris. Ford was using the 3pt on the Ford tractors like the 8n and 9n because the Ford tractors of that time had improvements designed by harry fergusen. It was a handshake agreement with Mr. Ford who later backed out and took advantage of Harry Fergusen. Ford was building Fergusen tractors at that time and that is why a few parts interchange between a Ford 8n and a Fergusen.
