I have an oddity...440 6 Pack Industrial engine...supposedly used by the Army during Vietnam War...it came with magneto, heavy duty trans, huge harmonic balancer and heavy thick bladed fan...here are some pictures...what’s it worth??? It would need to be completely rebuilt or could be cleaned up and used as a museum piece...

Any numbers on the pad or pan rail? What about the casting #, and casting date? Is the intake cast iron, or aluminum? Cast crank? You want a value, so we need details. Is it stuck, or does it turn? Without answers, right now it's worth what you can get for the intake.

I wonder if some maintenance corporal ordered up a few fun parts for the engine? There were six-packs on some marine engines too.

had hemi's in river gunboats so anything possible but you definitely got an oddity

Interesting for sure because you never knew what Ma would do for the customer... Customer was always right and knew what they wanted ! It’s neat but need specific info.. was it a retrofit or true industrial engine built this way... some folks over look industrial engines , from combines to street sweepers to air plane tugs Ma would gladly furnish a drive line. Industrial engines were usually a premium engine maybe lower squeeze but set up to run harder , longer and keep cool.

comments from the post i found interesting.
i dont agree with the price assessment tho, this is a rather unique piece imo.

Its gonna be about the. Same as a motorhome 440 , no way to tell how many miles are on it ? Or if it has forge crank except parting line on the crank , you can. Put 6 pak manifold on any thing 318,340, 383,413, 440 , good 4barrel an intake out performs a 6 pak any day??

There were 440 Hemi engines, they were converted 440 short blocks,to accept Hemi cylinder heads, by Stage V before Mopar Performance reissued Hemi block's. I saw two of the on display at Carlisle, one was in a 68 Cuda, the other one was in a 70 GTX.

But not in the same context as suggested in the links above

I know, he's talking like they were factory Chrysler built engines. My point was that 440 Hemi engines were actually built, adding to the confusion about what the factory built. Whenever I hear someone spouting off about a 440 Hemi, the Stage V conversion engines always come to mind! I have also heard about 340 Hemis from those who are not in the know, but I cannot argue that one either, as Hot Heads makes Hemi heads for small block engines, and a guy at Carlisle had a 340 Hemi engine in his A100 pickup. Only further adding to the confusion! Lol

You are exactly right CONFUSION. The aftermarket has tried many things, but the point is, you didn't just order these things from Chrysler.

Agreed. I have no doubt that he might have seen an industrial Hemi engine, but it wasn't a 440 Hemi engine. My friend has two Hemi engines with Sixpack setups on them, that's another one that I hear often from those who don't know, but a prototype Sixpack manifold was made and tested on the Hemi. Tom Hoover confirmed it in a conversation that we had with him at Carlisle. After my friend built his Hemi Sixpack intake by converting the factory dual quad manifold to accept Sixpack carbs,Mopar Performance released a limited number of Sixpack intake manifolds for Hemi engines. That also adds more to the confusion of what the factory made, and what people are seeing at the shows!
