Hooking with Leaf springs !

Bio, your fine with what you have and the setup. Time on the track and the hit or launch will start telling you what is going on. Just keep asking and listening to the pros. These guys on here make a tank move like a humming bird. Time tells all and the videos and slips with the input all will be fine.

Well it was a dissapointing night at the track. I only got 2 runs in, the track was super busy very hot at the statt of the night I left when a car puked oil down the track.

I was not doing a burnout with the street tires. First run left it in D and foot brake it to 2000, then jist stabbed it to hard and spun a brutal 2.45 60ft. Second time I tried putting it in 1St and brake to 2000 and spun bad again. So I don't know if I was just having a bad day and getting on it to hard , or did removing the clamps make things worse for me. I also thought I should clamp the front better . ? Jist all aroubd a bad night out for me.

It's part of racing good days and bad. But remember to have fun and everything will work out.

last time out I was able to grab a 2.0 60ft.
I felt like it was such a slow start though .

I guess they say slow down to spred up sometimes. lol

I just know I'd I can get this car to hook a bit better I can get into the 12s

Can you get someone to video you on the launch. Sometimes it will help. Also on your spring perches did you box them in.

this car runs the same springs that were built for it in the 70's . lots of clamps on every spring end on the front side , just a couple to keep them in place on the rear halfs . went 10.73 on slicks , 11.80 on street drag radials with muffers on . just like i drive it around in the town , i put front runners on for the strip .

sorry the best was 2.1 not 2.0 60ft.

No I have not boxed in the perch . I do have frame connectors.

Seen stiffening plates you just bolt on to the one side of the perch to beef it up a bit ... pretty simple trick in could easy make myself

X2!!
That is absolutely where I am!!
13.3X...13.4X...quarter mile times
@ 106 mph
2.2....2.4 60 ft times..
So, decent 60 ft times for a 12-13 second car are 1.5 to 1.6
Taking a 13.35 and cutting 4/10ths off the 60 ft and BAM that's a 12.95

Here is the upper mount we fabbed. It's hard to get good pics up in there. The shocks aren't straight vertical but as close as we could come within the confines of fhe stock chassis.

Thank you very nice work. You said that right room is not all that in the upper location.

those are reinforecment I was talking about. I also want to check my Pinon angle.

I have read multiple places that a .1 gained in the 60 ft usually equals to approx .2 in the quarter . 1.6 or 1.7 60ft. should pit your car WELL into the 12s . I am hoping for a 1.9 and I would be happy !

I was talking about the spring perches on the axle. You need to box them in. To stop the perches from getting bent and help help axle roll up on the launch. Many racers on here have done it. Malex has some pics on here showing how his perches were getting bent from the launch. It's a must in my opinion.

Ahhh. I don't think there is anyway I am bending those right now. But next step is to jack up the rear and give a good inspection of everything.

I think it would be helpful if you posted more details on what you have, some specifics on past track performance, and your goal and what your willing to do to get there. There are a lot of ways to get there, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for. 1.7 60ft, ez peezy: slick, gear, converter. Done. But I suspect that's not what you're looking for.

I've said it many times before, any 105 mph-ish b-body can get to a 2.0 60ft with a true street tire, 3.23 and stock like converter without anything exotic. Add a sticky street tire, 1.9.

Battery in the trunk, softest front shocks available, clamp the front springs, unclamp the rear, good snubbed close to the floorboard, good burnout, and driving technique. You might see a small uptick in mph too.

If better et is the ultimate goal, and off point of your question, there are a hand full of other little things to help pick up et too. Stock-ish 440's with tight converters, depending on the induction, can be very shift point sensitive, and retarding the cam might help too. FWIW.

FWIW, since I was installing subframe connectors, torque boxes, etc ALL designed to strengthen and stiffen the chassis, because I also have Assassin traction bars, etc and a manual transmission launch control that have just been added, I had the Mancini spring hanger reinforcement plates installed on one side, and the factory reinforcement plates installed on the other of the factory front spring hanger mount.
About the only thing I didn't do was box the spring perches.
?? With Assassin traction bars (like Caltracs) Do those limit rear axle roll enough to make boxing the spring perches unnecessary?? Or should I get them boxed anyway?
And then there's THIS:

I can only say that prevention is better than not. Bio with that stroker engine your putting in everything can only help.

Anything with any power is never going to take full throttle at the hit with street radials. Start with a pair of sticky tires. You can work on the suspension. But it won't mount to a hill of beans until its got some tires. Street radials don't have enough coefficient of friction to the track. If yoiu re going to try with these tires you have to drive it off the line like your pulling away from a stop sign. Then add smooth gradual throttle.I was able to get my wifes Challenger to run a 13.20 on Radial T/A's, once. Many 15.50s with spin. Sticky tires? Anyone could make it go 12.70s.
