Looking for old school pictures of 66-67 B-Bodies with flared/cut/modified rear fenders.

I have a metal guy and we are about to start working on the fenders of my ‘67 Satellite. I’d like to fit something bigger than a 28” tire. Going for an old school look and want to either flare/modify the fenders.

I will not tub the car; I simply would like get some general ideas of what others have done in the past to work around fitment issues. Here’s some examples

The Jimmy Addison 67 Silver Bullet GTX is the best example IMO. Legendary Motor Cars has a video on this car that may tell you what you want to know.

I have a signed poster of the Silver Bullet in my garage.. Friend of mine gave it to me.

I know I could probably never own the original, but an accurate clone would be nice. I don't think it's that hard to roll and stretch the rear wheel wells, but there will be various opinions on that.

I’m already aware of the Silver Bullet and have tried to find good close ups of the fenders. I believe they were able to fit a 315 tire on 8 inch wheel under the car. Tho it looks nice I’m looking to see other examples of things a bit more “imaginative”.

Some examples of what I was thinking of with other B Bodies

If you insist.... grafting in a replica of a 66/67 charger wheelwell might be a solution. (I am not advocating such). I've seen it done.

Cant be doing that unless your willing to install a 8 track deck and colored fur in the package tray.
I mean flare the wheel tubs and stop ?????? Thats like a plain hot dog on a bun.
If your goin 70s , go.............. chrome reverse wheels, header muffs bolted to the headers and stop. :D

Not gonna lie did look for the colored fur for the dashboard  just couldn’t find one. No 8 track but have thought of mounting a CB on the trunk LOL

Got a lot of ideas for the car, even if they are antiquated, out of style and useless.

I like it !
Looks like you have a good start. I can see those wheel openings coming out a little but check for filler 1st.

Both sides have a little filler in the quarters but a good amount in the wheel arches. The drivers side worse then the passenger. Tried rolling and I started cracking the filler.

Kinda pushed me to the idea of just cutting out the metal and welding In new custom arches at some point

what ever way you go you will have to deal with the body line.
Those panels and the scotch & soda car look close.

Exactly why I suggested the 66/67 charger wheelwells. They match the coronet body line since the lines are essentially the same, just more open for more tire room. Of the above examples, I think the best was the grounds for divorce car (except for the silver bullet, of course). The rest are just hideous beyond belief.
I had a friend who did something similar to the silver bullet, (rather, had done) to his 67 408 powered fairlane, looked ok once it was repainted, fairly subtle. But... It cost quite a bit if you include the quarter repaint, and maybe gained (maybe!) an extra inch and a half. MUCH more room available by moving the springs.
For the record, I personally am against any fender cutting, except for building a gasser, where it's required. Just my opinion, as always, it's YOUR car, do what YOU want!

Again just looking for suggestions. I’m open to a lot of ideas. Thanks for the thought, my thought process is that I’ll only ever modify/paint a car different from factory if I don’t plan on ever selling it. Had the car been a survivor or GTX or something I wouldn’t. But considering the PO painted the car purple instead of yellow, a 512 instead of a 318, and lots of other stuff I don’t really mind modifying the car.

I was considering on relocating the springs for alittle clearance, but IIRC someone on the forum mentioned on the 66-67 B Bodies that it doesn’t give you very much extra room w/o tubbing because of the inner fenders and clearances. Any validation on that?

Inner wheel houses are the same 66-70. It is the outer wheel houses where the problem lies. Proper back spacing and spring relocation is going to give you more than you think at present.

If the car needs rear quarter panels, talk to member Joe Phillips, he hand forms quarter panels for 66/67 Dodge and Plymouth B Bodies. He may be able to make you a set of one off quarters with the 66/67 Charger wheel well openings.
