Just now heard that he passed away on July 25th at the age of 81. He was Richard's younger brother.....and cause of death was not disclosed.
 
That sucks, wasn't he the engine builder, for all his championships too ?

you were an icon & will be missed dearly
my deepest heartfelt condolences
goes out to the Petty Family & friends

Another legend lost to time.. may he build hemis forever! Farewell and best wishes, condolences to family.. while it is sad day he will be among the finest.
