Dissection and Study of a Mopar Ammeter

Every MSD system instructions, as well as every EFI system instruct you to run primary power and ground direct to the battery.

As does the instructions for almost any kind of aftermarket electrical accessory made. For 99.9 percent of vehicles on the road today, no issue. If that language was not present, most of that gear would be connected to the first wire found anywhere that lights a test light, and/or grounded to a non-conductive dash frame. Most installers of aftermarket electrical equipment (professionals and amateurs alike) can’t seem to locate good clean power connections otherwise.

There is no reason the MSD and EFI (or any other accessory) can’t be connected to the alternator side of the ammeter on these original Chrysler charging systems as originally designed if the conductors/connections are well maintained and appropriately sized for the loads.

just a junction point somewhere between alt and amm because I true the alt stud could be uncomfortably to make that, is quite enough

How many people don't "maintain" their electrical systems, until there is a failure. Horse is already out of the barn.

nobody.... unless a rebuilding job is on the way. AND SOMETIMES NOT EVEN WITH THAT LOL

Since my battery is in the trunk and I want my MSD hot & ground hooked right to the battery what I do is run two battery cables my hot & ground up to this plastic insulator that has two studs in it on my firewall. Then I ran my MSD hot and ground right to these post that are hooked right to the battery and it works great. Its nice as I have a place to pick up a good hot or ground under the hood also with it. I actually run another + battery cable to a starter relay in the trunk and up to the starter. Ron
