425hp 396 Muncie 4 speed '65 Impala SS I found in the woods near my house a few years ago. Technically on private property so I can't rob parts off of it (since it's so close that I could literally push a shop crane from there to my house)
If anyone somehow knows where this is than don't comment it. If you have to say something PM me.

Man I'd get the vin and do a search on it might of been stolen and left there ! Or speak to property owner be vague say someone said he had an old car for sale and you were interested if they have no clue then I'd be thinking it stolen and dumped

Property owner was a elderly hermit that died some years back and the land ownership is disputed since the guy has no heirs. Surrounded by park land so maybe the park owns it now idak.

Some may say no but I say drag it on home then, eventually the land will get cleared and car will go to scrap or just finish rusting away !

I'd boldly go in there and drag it home. Don't look suspicious- just do it in broad daylight like you're meant to be doing it.
Put it in your shed and see what happens over the next few months. If nobody comes knocking, then start the restoration!

Oh yeah,,, dont you remember? You paid the guy for it, but he didnt get the title for you before he passed.

BINGO!!! Haha love it I thought the same thing!

can your DMV do a title search on the VIN?

there also may be a title company that knows what buttons to push with the state so they actually get responses.

sometimes they mail a request to the last registered owner and if they get no response, then you get an interim title.

if you know the guy died , and the state of the property, I gather you have already spoken to someone? that would have been the time to demand the title you have yet to receive for the 2500 you gave him for the car. at this point , if you want it that bad, go snatch it like you own it. if it were a hemi car or v code bee it would already be in my garage. that, I wouldn't bother with, but that's me

I will no doubt get a red x or two but I
Say do not swipe it. Do not make up some bull **** story of ownership.
Check with your county court house the treasure office to see who really owns the land.
Work from that. If nothing comes of it then it's just a cool story.
Just don't take another man's stuff.

I agree. My plan is to wait till the property is sold or auctioned off (whenever that is) and go get it when they're cleaning up trash and junk back there.

There's other cars back there too. A 327 (365hp) 65 Impala vert, and a early 70s 455 Buick.

Looks like a L-35, not a L-78. Q-Jet and cast iron intake are your clues. Still very cool. Like everyone has said, drag it home...

Sounds like a plan , but if you have time do check the Court house, tax info is public, you may get a contact name or info before the dozer shows up.

Incredible how someone would let a car like this sit in the woods!! There's got to be some story behind this. In any case I'd inquire with whoever has the lock on the property now. Get aggressive on trying to see about taking it off their hands as likely it's going to be snagged. People might know what this car is then there's still a few around who don't. Surprised it hasn't been vulture-picked yet. If you have any lawyer friends or a friend who knows one...I'd start there. Longer it sits there the more it's going to rust to ****, if not already underneath. Ask me how I know, lol.

It's incredible how they let that whole property rot. The house is starting to cave In and it's a Victorian mansion

A small, neglected junk yard near me was sold to make room for commercial rental units and RV storage.

I missed out on a 67 383 Satellite that I knew was there and in decent shape.

Saw it leave on a flatbed, crushed with about 15 other cars.

sniff......
