Charging a 12 volt drill?

Hi fellas,
I have a older, good 12 volt Porter Cable drill kit (2 batteries-rebuilt) but, my charger died and I can't find another. Can I use a Battery Tender Junior to recharge my battery packs? I would rewire the old charger case to adapt the battery to the Tender. The OEM charger is rated 1.6 amps while the Tender is rated 1.5 amps. Any experience with this situation here? Thanks.

The batteries are likely shot. That burns out the transformer in the charger. That happened to my Makita batteries and another cheap set.
You can definitely try the 1.5 amp battery tender. It will take a little longer to charge, but it may damage that one as well. If you like your drill kit, replace the batteries before using the battery tender.
 
I should also mention that I now use a battery charger intended for remote control cars because it’s adjustable and relatively cheap. Now I can charge different voltage and amperage batteries because it’s completely adjustable. It can even be set to charge all different types of batteries.
