Installing new door panels with water shields. The shields didn't come with any tape or other method of attachment. Are they just friction fit in between the door and door panel once snapped in place? Or should I tape them to the door prior to installing the panel? If tape, what kind?

Thanks,

They go under the top trim that holds the door panel, they used a rope of dum-dum on the sides. Dum-dum is a rope of putty, pretty handy.

3M strip caulk is great because you can take off the water shield and put it back on. With duct tape it’s a one time use and it may peel the paint. And tape can dry out and fall off over time in a dry area.

The bottom has no retention, but it gets cut about 2” longer than the panel and goes in the slot on the door above where the panel clips in. This is to have the water it catches go inside the door.

Great info, thanks!

yes, the 3M caulk strips or just regular Duct seal from a heating and air conditioning/Heat supply store.

You use dumdum , black soft Sticky stuff it comes in a roll.

A roll of "draft seal" from Ace Hardware and the lower portion gets tucked into the slot and taped. That way the water drains into the rocker and out it's holes onto the ground.. or so is the plan..
