Too close or not?

my 69 charger R/T came with the brake lines on the engine side of the master cylinder. And since I live in Florida, it gets pretty hot here. Has anybody used a master cylinder with the lines located on the opposite side? And is a master cylinder even available for a bendix disc brake car on the opposite side. Or am I over thinking it ? Or maybe a heat shield?
 
Will it boil the brake fluid? To me it looks unsafe. As soon as that engine moves up. It will crack the line. From what I see.
 
Yeah, I'd put a heat barrier of some kind between the two surfaces!
There's plenty of turbulent air moving around in the engine compartment
but the radiant heat from that exhaust manifold would worry me.
 
All my cars have the ports on the fender side of the master. I think that is a better setup than what you have.
 
It looks very close ! I've not seen a master with lines on other side ! A heat shield might be a good idea ! How much room is actually there ?
 
If a mc isn't available with fittings on the driver's side could you possibly use high temp spark plug boot heat shield sleeves?

I measured 1.5" above the exhaust manifold..and I found a new master cylinder in my shop with the ports on the opposite side. But I don't think it's for disc brakes, as both reservoirs are small. I'll have to do some research. And I found a nice chrome one on ebay that looks oem but it's $80. And then I would need to make or buy some new hard lines.
 
The mc are made for disc brakes on the left side

My 69 service manual shows it on the passenger side or engine side . But there is room on the drivers side, If I can get all the parts to make it work correctly.

I’ve got disc brakes and my mc is on the left side. I would take a pic but my car isn’t stored at my house
 
I just read my post and I didn’t mean that all mc for disc are made on the left side and mine is a 70. Sorry bout that

As noted in my picture above your car is a stock set up just like my 11/69 mfg '70 Bird. Not an issue, running regular old brake fluid.

It came from the factory this way . And I shouldn't have any problems but I wish it wasn't so close. I plan to get different master cylinder and some new hard lines for it in the future, just to be extra safe with this heat in Florida..
 
The hemi master cylinder had outlets on the opposite side, didn't it?
Or don't I remember that correctly...
 
Don't know if this works for your application !! not mine There are several others that say they're aluminum but look like OEM 1 1/32 bore.
I lIke it. And it won't rust! The chrome one identical to the aluminum one looks nice, but I'd be worried about the Chinese chrome job. Thanks!
 
I think the PDB master cylinder for a 70 Chrysler Newport has the lines on the left side (drivers.) Sounds like you would prefer that route? I pulled an entire booster/master assembly from one years ago and put it in my 68 gtx. Had to mess with the linkage from the pedal. But I’m pretty sure the master was the exact same as a factory one, just had the lines on the left side.
