15x12 in the rear 15x7 in the front Cragar Starwires made in 1978. (Real wire wheels) Came off of a old 30's ford show truck that had a 383 swap and a 8-3/4.
I'm using these on my Charger.

DIfferent indeed. But you’re right they have a certain flair to them...

Actually were later in the wire wheel game. True-spokes and Appliance Wire Wheels were first in the early seventies. The True-spokes were actually threaded to the rim and had to use tubes. Leaked and wobbled. The Appliance Used a finer wire and had over twice as many spokes. It was also threaded to a seperate center that was then welded to an outer rim. No leaks and because of the higher wire count, stayed true and didn't leak. Much better wheel. These have the spokes from the True-spokes but mounted to a welded center like the Appliance wheels.

These are my flashy set. Ill get a set of lighter aluminum wheels like Autodrags or Supertricks for the track.

Be careful with unilugs and too much power! I've seen way too many bad endings with those.

Getting these ready to go on my 63 Chrysler 300. I think they are more suited to the big Chrysler than the Muscle Cars.

A buddy of mine back in high school had them ( same size) on his slammed 78 C10 SwB. I always loved the way that truck looked, black with wires, No one else around had anything like it.

They look nice but to high maintenance for me(cleaning) Im more of a chrome steelie with baby moons kinda guy:thumbsup:

I like 'em! But how the heck do you get all those individual spokes all shiny
come cleaning time?

Looking closer at the tires. DO NOT DRIVE ON THOSE TIRES !!!. Those tires are VERY OLD. They are Original BF Goodrich T/A tires before B.F.G. sold to Michelin back in 1988. The originals were an all Rayon tire. No steel or glass belts. When Michelin purchased BFG and Uniroyal tire, they started to use the Uniroyal "green tires" in BFG T/A molds. Really a Uniroyal tire inside, BF Goodrich pattern on the outside. That is when the T/A no longer was really a T/A. The originals were a custom built tire in one BFG plant. Now you know why the current T/A's don't enjoy the reputation of the originals. Different tire now.

I know those tires are ancient. They have no cracks or warping. They still even have some of the string things on them because they were driven very little. Stored inside on a garaged showtruck. They are fine, I only won't use them if they are worth money to someone because they are originals. They are most likely from '78 with the wheels.
They are in good shape because the truck was only driven a few miles and then parked in a garage for decades because it scared the builder. I found out the reason it was so scary and uncontrollable was because to fit the 383 in the 30s ford truck they turned the front suspension around :bananaweed:
Wish I remembered to take pictures of it, it was badass

You know what, ill get the date code off of those tires just for lols

Pre 2000 D.O.T. date code will have 3 digits. First 2 are the week of production, the last number is the year. Example 228 22nd week of either 78, 88 or 98.
They may look good on the outside, but don't be fooled. Tires are made of several different chemicals that are baked in a mold under high heat and pressure to cause a chemical reaction called " Vulcanization" This is what made Mr. Goodyear famous, even though he was in jail when he accidentally found this out. Just like mixing eggs, flour, sugar, butter. Baking it and it turns into cake. Once it is made, it starts to chemically deteriorate. Tires were only designed to last 4-5 years at most. Old tires wore out quickly and were replaced every couple of years. Average mileage driven annually today is about 15K a year. A 60,000 mile tire would last 4 years. Take Motorhome and boat trailer, camping trailer tires for example. They see very few miles each year and because the rubber hardens and loses it flexibility it gets very hot at highway speeds and then disintegrates. That is what you see all over the freeways in the summer time. Old tires that fail. At the very least a failure will cause damage to your cars' fenders and more. At the worst you can cause a traffic accident and someone can be injured or worse.
No LOL here. I learned this information from over 35 years in the tire business with major tire manufacturers. Been involved in a few major tire recalls. No fun.

Put them on and take a picture I bet they look nice , but as others said careful of too much power on them .

I still have to do brakes and get shocks. I will post pictures when I put them on.
These are NOT going to be raced on. These are just for cruising or for car shows. I will get a set of Cragar Super Tricks for the track.
