73-74 B-Body big block K-Member. Southeast US driving distance from Myrtle Beach preferred but I am willing to pay freight if need be. Mine was torched for a race oil pan...

Well I got the one here had a 340 in car but I'm told it's the same frame as big blocks

Ok so I was poking around looking and some say yes some say no
Some say you need a special motor mount
@Nacho-RT74 would probably Know 100%


It's a great frame no rust at mounting points
I have it listed at $450 for the entire thing sway bar and all
 
Big block and small are different in 73-74.
 
You could use a small block one if found and cut the one side off and weld the BB frame mount on it from your cut K-member as only one side is different if I remember. Not that hard I did it years ago until I found a perfect one.. Also to open up areas to look for they were used in the 75-up Cordoba, Fury, Charger platform and there was lots of 400's in them...

As mentioned since 73 /6, SB and BB use diff engine mounts disposition, hence diff K member.

As far I recall both sides change just one of them is more noticeable. There are pics around about the diff. I'm not on my laptop now to post the pic but pretty sure is on line, since same pic has being posted several times.

Shumacher services ( www.engine-swaps.com )got the engine mount "adaptors" to install BBs on /6 and SB k members, but they are at this moment moving and unable to provide pieces as far I know.
 
Thanks for the pics. I can't remember doing both sides but I probably did it was almost 30 years ago.. I cut the brackets off, Ground everything down and had a buddy who was a welder finish it... Was a lot easier than changing everything out.
 
I've been told by More than one source, but can't find anything "official", that DC offered conversion spool motor mounts back in the late 70's and 1980's.

If you look at the mounts, they are quite long. It may have been just a shorter steel channel on the mount.

It also appears the K frame may locate the block slightly differently front to back.
This could be compensated for in a number of ways, including a slight offset in the conversion mount.

Can anyone confirm a Direct Connection SB to BB conversion spool mount was ever offered?
 
1973-74 B Body small block K members are damn near impossible to sell. No one wants them b/c they want BB or they keep their SB K member and go the 340 route. If someone buys a SB car and the K member is rotted out guess what they'll go the BB k member route if they're going to go through the trouble of removing it.

And if someone buys a BB car, highly unlikely they'll switch it to a SB.

I got really lucky and found a buyer for my SB K member. It was weird I must say. And I've scrapped rust free 73/74 B Body SB K members.
 
My factory SB K frame doesn't have sway bar mounts.

I'd be interested in one that did, but the only one I've seen for sale in proximity, the asking price is a whopping $500.

(no, it's not you BB70500, this one is bare and only 30 miles away)

Don't think he'd come anywhere close to the $100 I think is a fair price.
