This engine was bought new thru a chrysler dealership and warranty expire a month after. So chrysler said not helping you out because of the expired warranty. This engine only has 28,000 miles on it. I did oil changes at 3,000 miles. The first shop told me it has bad lifters. I talked to Mike at HP motors in NJ. He told me its in the bottom end of the motor after he told me to take off the coil wires of each cylinder one at a time to see if it got louder or quieter, well cylinder 3 got louder he thinks its a wrist pin. To make sure I have to bring him to car.I don't know where you got the "new" engine or if it was a just an original running motor you found, but while your taking it apart and spending more money on it I'd stake the valve seats if your planning on keeping it! I just had my 05 drop a valve seat and the car isn't abused and never overheated!I put a scope in number 7 and the piston doesn't look bad but I can see debris in there! won't know until I get the head off if it needs a piston or cylinder damaged. I know it will need a head! just over 100,000miles and first problem ever!the car could use a new front cradle so I'm going to look at a partout car today, hopefully the cradle and drivers side head is good!
I was looking at a paxton kit for it a guy had for sale a couple months ago. I know I would have blamed the failure on the blower had I installed it but now I'm wiser!

A little beating keeps them healthy.Wouldn't be the first time he's been wrong....and he's wrong a lot.
I've beat all (3) of my 5.7 hemi's (one non-MDS, two with it) like rented mules and have had zero issues.
I always use Mobil1 in the exact weight Dodge calls for on each vehicle (yes, they're different), no exceptions.
My Ram is an '04. Nary a worry.... 175k miles and is used as a truck.Early Gen 3 semi hemi had valve seat problems. Somewhat common. Corrected on later models as I understand.
Original engine went at 139,000 and with oil changes at 3,000 miles because I had lifetime oil changes. The second one was bought thru chryslerExactly. I worked with a guy who went through two of them in a short time period.
