Howdy,

I have a 727 from a 72 newport in my 67 satellite with a very leaky 3 prong neutral safety switch. It's bypassed i also just discovered, so i was wondering if i should wire up a 3 prong connector and get the same switch, or if i should find a proper single prong and see if it would fit and function in this transmission.

Thanks

Are you saying that you don't have reverse lights so you don't need the 3 prong? The leak is probably the seal. You can buy a new seal for just a few cents and it is easy to replace.

Howdy,

I'm saying the switch is leaking, so should i replace the switch with the same 3 prong? Or can i toss in a year correct single prong? The swith is leaking between metal and plastic, not through the threads. But oddly enough i had reverse lights before i rebuilt the engine, and now i don't. I haven't even checked for that issue yet.

Thanks

The switches are different lengths depending on which "rooster" comb you have in there. So yes for the leak, maybe for the function.

As mentioned above, the switch has to match the rooster comb to function correctly.

Pay attention to all said above, and be mindful of the fact that you are using a 3-prong neutral safety switch late transmission in a early car using wiring for a single prong switch.

I have a 1967 with a newer type rooster comb on a single neutral safety switch. The car will only start in Neutral. It will not start in park. Reverse lamps switch Is inside the car.

Because the switch and comb are mismatched.

I could fix this by using a 3 prong switch and tap into the correct pin and have it start in P and N.
