Not in a hurry because if you do, not only will your parts go on the back burner, they will go into a storage unit that's in the very back corner of his 40 acre track of land!!

Bad day Cranky?

I told my machinist I wasn't in a hurry with my latest 440... he had it back to me in 3 months --- we gotta know the story here

“Don’t worry about the cost just make sure its right”

Ok I never had that much money to say that but it’s kinda inferred given the work at hand and shouldn’t need to be said.

I did say “when decking the block don’t touch the stamped numbers”

No real story except that's it's true. Being a machinist, I always tried to get stuff out quickly but sometimes there were people who didn't deserve to get their stuff back quickly lol :D. I've had stuff that ended up in machinist's hell before too though. It's kinda like body shop hell. The ones that pay quickly and well, they usually go to the front of the line. It's just the way it is. Generally, the shops that did machine work for me got it out within decent amount of time but there was the occasional time when it got put on the back burner. I can only do so much here so have to rely on others from time to time.....

My buddy had a 454 built and the machinist never checked the cylinder walls, yep engine blew up on the dyno test. Do your dam job thats what Im paying you for.

Absolutely.
I thought that I was being polite and nice when I told my guy that regarding the 383 I'm building for the '70 Charger. That was in late May,
3 months later, he still isn't done.

My bodyshop's 'prison' had the distinct smell of weed. :bananaweed:

I was subsidising a very bad habit as it turned out.
Maybe not such a bad thing for body work and paint...Artistic, somewhat fluid regimen.
Brakes and tight tolerance machining and assembly, well, that would concern me.

Sorry brother, I love ya, but I don't want a stoner painting and sanding my hotrod.

And I get that, but comparatively speaking, one may not be so bad as the other.
I know the guy I have had do my paint and body work isn't a weed smoker, and I'm happy about that.
On the other hand, I know another guy who drinks his breakfast and lunch, and does good work, once he finally gets to it, and scheduling work with him is an exercise in futility.

Sometime around dinner. LOL

Hey @kiwigtx
I'm sorry I don't know, but did you get your car finished there, and other than how long it took, how was the quality of the finished product?

I wasn’t necessarily in a hurry for my engine to be completed - but at the end of the day it took him 2 years and that with a lot of badgering by me and friends in my absence. Never again.

My car has been in NZ since 1974, and I bought it in 1997. Took almost 18 months at the panel shop....it was a big job to get it right, but the progress was slow for a while. I had to take it out of there in the end, as I suspect the weed got to the guy. It took my painter and myself 3 months to fix his 'over-zealous troweling' :cursin: .... I don't get it, as the metal workmanship was top notch...almost as good as the local legend Mike Roberts.

Mike actually did some work on my GTX....he made it better than it was from the factory. :D

Didn’t think there was weed in the COLONIES until it was legalized here!!!
 there's plenty of weed growing up and down the country here...has been for decades.

From one of our most loved comedians...the late Billy T James...

Sorry about the poor video quality - it was first broadcast on TV in the 1980's.
