TITLE/VIN TAG

There is this. I found on the IDAho DMV site. Have a sheriff or city police guy do the VIN check.

The above works the same way here in Georgia if you cant find or dont have a title you can have a sheriff come out and run the vin and issue you a letter stating that the car is clear its called a bonded title. Then there ya go you are off and running.

  • Vehicle Identification Number Inspection – completed by an officer of the law, DMV employee, military police officer, or Idaho licensed vehicle dealer. (Out-of-state lienholders: If the vehicle and owner are in Idaho, the Vehicle Identification Number inspection can often be performed by the County Assessor’s office, Sheriff’s office, or City Police Department where the owner resides.)

Always always always title or register a car in your name before piling crap loads into it! Lesson learned and I feel your pain.

He's looking to do illegal activity, and I don't think Joey would think this is a cool idea, but that's just me. Nuke it baby!

He has a 66 so that's a no-go.
Well, this thread has been reported and is in discussion.....but I suppose the site owner hasn't seen it yet.

I guess the thread 'title' could be changed and moved somewhere else. Pun intended :D

WELL IT LOOKS LIKE I NEED SOME HELP. THE PAPERWORK I GOT WITH MY CAR IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW ME TO TITLE IT IN THE GREAT STATE OF IDAHO...SO THEY LEAVE ME NO CHOICE BUT TO REACH OUT FOR A TITLE AND VIN TAG FROM ANOTHER CAR. MINE IS A 66 CORONET 500. NOT THE WAY I WANTED TO DO IT BUT I HAVE INVESTED A CRAP-LOAD OF MONEY TRYING IT THE RIGHT WAY SO NOW I WILL TRY IT THIS WAY. I HAVE RAN IT THRU THE NATIONAL DATABASE AND IT IS NOT STOLEN BUT THE ORIGINAL OWNER APPARENTLY DIDN'T DO PROPER PAPERWORK AND THAT WAS 4 OWNERS AGO SO THE STATE SAYS THEY CAN ONLY GO BACK 1 OWNER AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK!!!!!! I THINK IT'S A LOT OF CRAP AND THE CAR IS TO NICE TO PART OUT OR CRUSH. CAN'T BELIEVE IV'E FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR BEING A CHEVY GUY BUT THERE IT IS!!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.:cursin::cursin::cursin::cursin:
OK, I'LL DO IT.....

SO WHAT YOU ARE (YOU'RE) SAYING IS THAT THE ORIGINAL SALESMAN IN 1965/6 NEVER TITLED THE CAR?????

SOUNDS A BIT OF A STRETCH TO ME.

Is this the car you paid $200 for this past May? Have you actually stuck any money into the car? If not, you are still way ahead of the game. I would say it has been a pretty cheap lesson for you to never stick any cash into a car until you have a clear title in your name.

I think the moral to this story is to explain the situation and always remember to end statement with those all important works.....asking for a friend

You gotta do what you gotta do, in some situations. You just don't gotta tell the world about it.

You started this thread asking the wrong question. You should have aimed towards the legitimate process to obtain a valid title. This thread should be moved to general and the suggestions and options will continue to pour in.

Everybody here knows you dont want to do a sketchy move. You just want your car titled.

Good luck. You will get it.

Go threw the proper ways of doing this . I've bought a vin swapped ride before I got burned as I went to change title in my name the dmv said the vin was Odd so it got checked further the two hidden numbers were very much different. Car was stolen . Guy I bought it from already spent the money he did get arrested even though he said he bought it like that as a quick flip . I came out with no car And no money .

Deff not cool ford and chevy guys do it alot for some reason I I guess it's easier not to get caught

*ahem*
DON'T BUY A FREAKING CAR WITHOUT PROPER LEGAL PAPERWORK!!

Hmmm....thought I'd feel better after yelling.... oh well.

Well, I have bought several.....Most of the time they are going to get parted out.
In a weird and completely unbelievable bizarro rarity, California actually is very easy to title a car that has no title.
I have bought somewhere around 10-12 cars over the past 20 years and only 2 had titles.
I never faked a title, I never swapped numbers and never stole anything. VIN and title swapping is some underhanded stuff, man.
A popular YouTube guy that does metalwork on 68-70 Chargers seems to have no problem with moving numbers around. He posted online how his state allows it despite the fact that it is a violation of Federal law.
I prefer to keep my stuff and not spend time in prison with lonely men.
