We're lucky here, no fires within 25 miles.. But the smoke an ash is unreal.... This morning there was close to 1/4" of ash covering everything.... The roads had a post-apocalyptic event look about them...
I changed the whole house electronic air filter a few weeks ago after the worst of the last round of fires passed... The filter media is huge & is supposed to typically last a year.... This morning I had a low flow warning on the control panel.... The filter was plugged with ash... This is from inside a closed house... Crazy....

No kids on your block will make any pocket money cutting that lawn.
Dodged the firey bullet yesterday right about noon time.....flames got about 6 feet from the NW corner of our warehouse here. The north wall of the warehouse is ab-butted up against the south embankment of the off-ramp from I-5 north to eastbound WA Hi-way 512....
I could smell the smoke coming way before the flames got here. I stood at the NW corner of the WH and put as much water down on the embankment as I could before the FD got here. The smoke was so thick, I literally couldn't see my hand in front of my face....but I could see the flames cresting the top of the embankment, so I kept right on with the water. A pumper truck in the lot next door kept me hosed down at the corner of the WH while I was doing what I could.....A few minutes after the flames crested the top, a suited-up fireman came into the smoke cloud and told me "Sir....it's time for you to leave...NOW!!!!" So I did......
Thankfully, no damage was done to the warehouse and nobody was injured.
KUDOS TO CENTRAL PIERCE AND WEST PIERCE FIRE DEPARTMENTS!!!!! They got the fire COMPLETELY put out!
