THANKS SO MUCH!!
Today the weather has been hot and humid, but not bad on the south Louisiana scale. Many of the houses here are built up on mounds of earth, and my next door neighbors' have a larger mound than the footprint of the slab, so that is where one or two of our daily drivers will go. Roadrunner is an hour away at the shop and safe. GTO in our attached garage 5 feet up, and I don't think we're going to get that much water. If we do, we are going to have LOTS of problems but I absolutely don't think that is a possibility. One vehicle will be on my ramp going up to the garage. Still have some stuff to move, a few things to get, and then watch and wait.
By the way, the running hot problem with the GTO was the Cold Case dual electric fans and shroud assembly. I put the factory mechanical fan on without the shroud and no problem, ran 185 to 200 max. Max was sitting still at idle w/AC running. I'm going to switch to a much higher CFM (2600) single 15" two speed fan and shroud assembly like the 17" I have for the Roadrunner. 4.9 out of 5 stars w/70+ reviews. That should run as cool driving as the unshrouded mechanical fan, and cooler at idle sitting still than the mechanical fan. I'm glad I don't have to take off all the CVF Wraptor stuff to get to the water pump, as the "divider plate to impeller vanes gap" being too big wasn't the problem. I did find two bolts of the 11 that attach the front of the water pump to the back missing, so I replaced those. I also found the 2 short small bolts that hold the top of the AC condenser to the top bracket had fallen out and wedged between the bottom of the AC condenser and the weld line of the bottom cap of the aluminum radiator. I'll use LockTite, and chalk this up as "even a mechanic who is referred" may do shoddy work. Fortunately I have someone else working on my Roadrunner.
